Lightrise is a skill-based, player vs. player combat game which at the core is focused on fun, fluent and fast-paced combat. Lightrise gives players a combat experience not quite like anything else available out there.

Lightrise has much more depth than a traditional one-shot, one-kill FPS, but at the same time does not have any of the familiar restraints such as classes, roles and load outs that are typically found in games of the genre today. Right from the start, each player has access to an identical arsenal of spells and skills - the playing field is as even as it could be - no strongest classes, no flavor of the month builds, no over-powered load out configurations.

Every player can shoot a bow, cast a fireball or swing an axe seamlessly without any artificial restrictions. Every win and loss will be determined solely by how well you play in that moment.

  • manage health, stamina and mana with stat-transfers, potions and food
  • no builds, classes, choices or loadouts!
  • no limit on the number of abilities a player can use at any time (except those self-imposed)
  • amazingly simple, intuitive keyboard setup
  • auto-cast option for every skill
  • extensive avatar customization for uniqueness including color
  • currently up to 10 players per room (could increase)

    Lightrise has been in heavy development since mid-November, and it's been in Open Alpha since the beginning of January. We've issued nearly 50 patches in 2015! Hey Destlocke, (Old Darkfall player here, from Grief/Abso, Grimfate) I like what you have going on here man. I see in your last update back hits were being a pain in the @ss. I had to solve a similar issue in a project I was working on. To be honest, just doing a quick positional and rotational check of the attacker and victim at the moment of impact is about the same resource wise as having multiple colliders, also, more reliable. Anyways, just wanted to throw that out there as a suggestion. Looks good, good luck.

Was trying to play on Linux. (Ubuntu Server 14.0x LTS) with a KDE desktop environment.
However was unable to do so.

lightrise.x86_64 is just a copied & renamed version of Linux_universal.x86_64. Both do not work.

@bunnykiller56 It's a very high skill ceiling game, the drive to get better IS the reason to duel. Improving your own performance and having fun while you do it is the game. No different than any other highly competitive arena based game featuring PvP. You're comparing it to MMO PvP, which is apples and oranges. If it's not your thing, that's cool.
