Tiny Robot Justice Squad is a 2D action platformer/arena shooter for Windows, Mac OSX and Linux platforms. It has explosions, big guns, big bosses and quick-paced platform gameplay. The game is being developed by Mind Relay (which is actually just one person!), with all proceeds generated by the game to be donated to the charity GamesAid which helps disabled and disadvantaged young people. Carry on reading to learn more about the game and how it will support good causes!

The game's main inspirations come from from classic shooters such as Contra, Turrican, SmashTV and various SHMUPs along with more moden influences such as Super Crate Box, Risk of Rain and Gun Monkeys.

  • Action/Platformer/Arena Shooter hybrid.
  • Tight platforming controls built with couch-based gameplay in mind.
  • Three playable characters to choose from, each with their own unique special abilities.
  • Harvest the energy of your enemies to empower your own weaponry OR unleash it all at once in devastating area-of-effect attacks.
  • Earn skill points and customize yourself and your abilities
  • Complete special level challenges to earn skill points and GLORY!
  • 12 Guns with which to annihilate your enemies: Rocket launchers, Saw launchers, Vulcan cannons, Laser Guns, DOUBLE LASER GUNS and more.
  • Seven varied levels, taking you through cities, secret bunkers, haunted laboratories and into deep space!

In typical arena shooter style, you fight waves of deadly enemies in glorious, violent battle. However, each wave of enemies will be larger and stronger corresponding to how many Signal Pods are active. You must destroy all Signal Pods in a wave to progress, but once one set of Signal Pods is destroyed more will take their place! The task is exasperated by the fact that they might appear in hard to reach or dangerous places!

In 2754 humans are a rare sight on Earth, with most of them having abandoned the planet and taken to the stars. Some say this was to retire on far-off alien beaches. The far more likely reason is that humanity wished to avoid the moral (and potentially apocalyptic) problems associated with the emerging self-awareness and consciousness displayed by their Robot slaves, so most of them wisely decided to not stick around to see what happened.

Now, the Artificial Intelligence ZEROV, formerly tasked with managing bean curd processing plants, plans to launch itself and its minions into the stars to seek revenge on its human masters for being left behind and denied the opportunity to explore the universe. ZEROV commands an army of sympathetic Robo-citizens, from military to household Robots, along with a cohort of its own twisted creations, in a bid to achieve its goals and wipe out the remaining humans on Earth along the way.

It is up to you to take control of the Tiny Robot Justice Squad, a rag-tag task force assigned to tackling Robot-on-Robot crime, to put an end to the plans of this heinous villain!

I am a solo indie game developer. Mind Relay is a special kind of not-for-profit company called a Community Interest Company (Incorporation #09306904) which means that the money the company makes goes entirely towards supporting charitable organisations. Mind Relay is the first application of this specific business model to the games industry. Tiny Robot Justice Squad is the first game to be produced under the project, and when it is complete all funds will go to the charity GamesAid. While ultimately the game will benefit charitable causes, I really urge you to judge it on its own merits. It is intended to stand alone, and be a genuine contribution to gaming.

I like the art style and the game play looks solid. If the controls are tight then this game could be great. Good luck guys!
