Squad 44: Community Overhaul

Description
SQ44: Community Overhaul is a community-driven mod focused on improving the vanilla Squad 44 experience through new gameplay features, quality-of-life improvements, balance adjustments, and expanded building options.

The idea is simple: gameplay changes are either developed by us or selected from suggestions submitted by the community before being put to a public vote.

If a proposal receives at least 60% positive votes, we assess whether it can realistically be implemented with our current skillset and the time available for this side project. If it passes that check, the change is added to the mod across all supported maps from the vanilla chapters.

With all major server hosts having agreed to support the project, these changes are intended to become part of the regular Squad 44 experience whenever servers run the modified Community Overhaul Random Offensive layers instead of their vanilla counterparts.

FOB & BUILDING SYSTEMS
  • The FOB Radio has been removed.
  • The FOB Tent now acts as the central structure of a FOB and has its own building radius.
  • Most buildables can now be placed freely outside of red zones and are no longer restricted to the FOB radius.
  • Exceptions : Ammo Crates, Repair Stations and Vehicle Tents must still be placed within a FOB Tent radius in order to function.

AMMUNITION CRATES
  • Ammo Crates now have 20 uses.
  • Multiple Ammo Crates can now be stacked.
  • Ammo Crates must be placed within a FOB Tent radius in order to function.

VEHICLE TENT
The Vehicle Tent has been reintroduced, giving infantry squads their own source of transport.
  • Only the Infantry Squad Leaders can use a Vehicle Tent to spawn a transport truck for their squad.
  • Spawning a squad transport truck does not consume any supplies.
  • When a squad transport truck is destroyed, a five-minute cooldown begins before a replacement can be spawned.
  • Vehicle Tents must be placed within a FOB Tent radius in order to function.

VEHICLE CLAIM SYSTEM
An initial vehicle claim system has been introduced for transport trucks spawned from Vehicle Tents.
These trucks can only be driven by members of the squad whose Squad Leader spawned them, helping prevent vehicle theft and ensuring that each truck remains available to its intended squad.

MINIMAP & DEPLOYABLE COUNTERS
  • The minimap has been moved to the right side of the screen, allowing players to retain better forward visibility while checking it, whether moving on foot or driving.
  • New minimap indicators display both the current number of deployed constructibles and their maximum allowed count.
  • These counters make it easier to track important team assets such as FOBs, Mortars, other limited buildables and active squad transport trucks.

EMPLACEMENTS & FORTIFICATIONS
  • The height of fixed Machine Guns can now be adjusted after placement, making them easier to align with windows, trenches, bunkers, sandbags and other defensive positions.
  • An additional type of MG Bunker has been added, providing increased protection for the gunner.

REPAIR STATIONS
  • Fixed vehicle compatibility with Repair Stations.
  • All vehicles can now be repaired at Repair Stations.
  • Firing the weapon of a vehicle or emplaced gun while positioned on a Repair Station will delay its resupply.
This prevents vehicles and emplacements from continuously firing while being immediately resupplied.

SUPPORTED LAYERS
Community Overhaul currently includes modified versions of all the vanilla Random Offensive layers.

Community Overhaul layers use the _CO suffix and must be added to a server’s map rotation in place of their vanilla equivalents.

EXAMPLE FOR SERVER CONFIG
Before : Grave Offensive Random 01
After : Grave_Offensive_Random_01_CO

FRONTLINE LAYERS ARE NOT YET AVAILABLE AND WILL BE ADDED IN THE NEXT UPDATE.

REQUIRED DEPENDENCY
Community Overhaul requires Redland Core to function.

Both mods must be installed and active on the server for Community Overhaul layers to work correctly.

FEEDBACK & FUTURE UPDATES
Community Overhaul is designed to evolve alongside the Squad 44 community.

Suggestions, feedback, and bug reports can be submitted through the Redland Collective community channels. Proposed gameplay changes may then be reviewed and put to a community vote for possible inclusion in a future update.

Thank you to all the players, testers, contributors, and server owners who helped make this first release possible.

tl;dr : We make people vote on our discord on the features & gameplay changes they'd like to see in game depending on what we can do and the time we can spare, then implement whatever the majority wishes

So what does this actually do?
