[ABANDONED] Quick Guide - For Newbies and Everyone
By Avalon Adm.Lancelot
I QUITED PLAYING THIS GAME FOR A WHILE AGO, SORRY. So it means this guide is currently not updated and abandoned, unless there's a miracle that brings me back into the feild. However, some parts of this is still up to date. Thank you for your support and sorry.

______________________________________________________

A quick starter guide for newbies to prevent further confusion and to clarify the vital details Lotus failed to explain to you. This guide also includes tactics and sweet primes drop locations. All of this started from the smallest idea when playing with newbies...'oh hell I can't keep explaining to everyone', so here it is! I'm still working on the guide and will probably finish in (hopefully) 2 months due to projects. Sorry for my bad English and please give feedback to make this guide perfect!

Greetings, Tenno
This guide is a quick guide for new players and also anyone who wants tips and tricks. New players often have to figure things out on their own and may end up miserably in mission. So this guide focus on how not to make silly mistakes, unlike Wikia. However, I'm the only contributor, so if anyone wants to give me a hand, please let me know.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To Those Who Read This But Aren't Newbies

Please help the newbies, be patient with them. Remember who you were on the very first day you stepped out of the pod in confusion. Encourage them, guide them and be a dependent Tenno. Make this community a warm welcoming one, and try to keep up your good work. Feel free to add tips and tricks!

Vital Knowledge - A Must Read for Newbies
How to be a good player and avoid making whole squad fail

I) What you may not know about each mission type

1. Defense

- Don't run around far from the cyropod (the thing you have to protect) or camp at the spawn point aka Hallway Hero. This can lead to you and your team's doom, leaving the cyropod unprotected. Newbies tend to do this a lot since they don't know how affinity or exp sharing mechanic works. You not only down off the grid in the middle of chaos, but also don't get to share exp with your squad (as the sharing range is about 50 meters)

2. Survival
- I understand that Lotus only says activate the life support when the supply is low, so it's quite confusing how low should the life support level be when you have to activate it. Each life support capsule restores 30% of your life support level and you can also pick up life supports from enemies you kill so DO NOT activate life support until it reaches 40% or below. Also the most important thing is try not to run far away from the squad as the enemy will be spawned randomly and you won't get exp share as said above.

3. Interception
- Each point has console and your job is to make sure that the console is free from enemy. When the enemy get its hand on the console and start to hack, take it down before it can do so successfully. Take care of your point and the area around. When each round end, staying at capture point will short down the capture session. Don't forget to kill the enemy in the radius of the point while capturing or it will halt the process

4. Rescue
- Yes, the hostage is stupid so DO NOT give him/her your secondary weapon (he/she is just another stormtrooper who shoots the air aimlessly and tries to fight the heavies) , you can simply rush to extraction since the hostage DOES NOT have to be at the extraction but make sure the hostage is alive.

5. Excavation
- Now this can be the most confusing mission type for new players. The core is to stick together, protect the excavator and keep it running. Newbies often forget about the Power Cells thus tend to leave the extractor without power and stops running. You get the cells from the power carriers you kill, then you have to carry it to the extractor. Never forget to keep an eye on the power level and defend the excavator. If your squad is weak, try to stay away from the highlighted area on the ground as Lotus will send another excavator, making it more difficult. Most importantly, DO NOT run off the grid or away from the squad as repeatedly said above. Each power cell regenerates the shield to 500.

II) What to do to make you stronger

1. Get better weapons
- Throw those MK-1s away and get something better like Braton, Kunai and Cronus for starters. Don't forget to level all gears up to 30 before selling them, however (you can sell your weapons to make room for new ones by selecting it from the menu) As your mastery rank gets higher (you have to take mastery rank test in order to get some top tier weapons) you can get powerful guns such as soma prime, penta and phage. Try not to waste potatoes by planning carefully which weapon you will use it on, same with forma (you can use forma to change the polarity on a weapon once it reaches level 30 to reduce the drain so you can equip more high ranking mods)

2. Get your gears properly modded
- Modding and upgrading is the core of this game. Great weapons without mods are like tigers without claws. You can farm the mods by doing missions. To double mod capacity choose Action and then select the 'Double Mod Capacity' option using Orokin Reactor aka potato (for warframes, sentinels and kubrows) or Orokin Catalyst aka blue potato (for weapons) which you can either craft with foundry or buy with platinum. You can easily get blueprints from market, defeating boss, log in reward, clan dojo, alert mission, void mission and Orokin derelict mission.

3. Know what you're doing
- Know what you have to do with your frame and try to keep up with the squad.
4.Get into an active clan
- Clan can be really helpful and people are often willing to help you through missions, plus you'll get to use trading post to trade with other players, research labs and many more. Here[forums.warframe.com]

III) Potentially Useful Tips

1. Use the Warframe you like
- Oh newbies, you don't always have to use Rhino. Use something you like and get used to it. Excaliber can be really great too with great mods and Rhino's Iron Skin isn't that invincible. This will help you later when you get to higher ranks as you can get the most out of every frame you use.

2. Be a Farmer
- Yes, keep farming stuff and void keys (you'll get those from defense, excavation, interception and survival missions) These components will be used to craft things and you need credits to craft. Look for alert mission and group up with people to farm by finding them in Recruit chat box.

3. Use the chat box
- Chat box can be useful when you want to find a squad to play with or want to host a game. Simply go to Recruit tab and type down if you need help. H is for Host if you want to host a mission and LF is for Looking for. Other terms are T which means Tower for void mission (T1 = enemy level 10-20, T2 = 20-30 and so on) and OD means Orokin Derelict mission. (D = Defense, S = Sabotage, I = Interception, A = Assassination, S = Survival)

4. Don't Spam and be polite
- We are innocent Tenno and easy to be scared. Don't tap the glass too much and we will help you, just keep calm, sit back, get a cup of tea and by the time you come back you would probably get a friendly player to help.

5. Don't beg others
- Please. This is the lamest thing you can expect someone to do in this game where you can literally grind and build everything for free, you only have to spend time with it. Even so, I've seen many people doing such hatred act.

6. Go AFK correctly
- This is all about going afk, because going afk while you're in a mission with someone else will make you an &*#%@&$(, so if you know you may go afk, choose 'Solo' on a menu next to your profile icon before starting a mission.

7. Don't get a kubrow if you're still a beginner
-It's a quest however if you're low on credit and still have to farm for things, it will rob everything away from you in mere 10 days. No difference from having a high maintenance girlfriend. Need a companion? Get a sentinel.

IV) What you have to do to play Warframe happily

1. Friends
- It's a co-op based game and playing with friends, especially IRL friends can be really fun. You can speak to each other freely in your own language without worrying about others. It will make grinding much less boring...I guess.

2.Good connection
- Having a good connection is really important. Warframe's server can be really &%*() up sometime but other than that, make sure your connection is good enough and you're on the right server (you can check it on the menu)

3. Make a plan
- Always. You have to keep in mind what to do or build next because it takes time to grind and build. This way you can get your affinity up fast without waiting for your frame/ weapon to finish building. Calculate what you have to use or buy, same applies for platinum.

4. Don't buy everything with platinum
- If you follow 3.), things you only have to spend plat (short term for platinum) are color extension packs, skins, syndana, decorations, clan and alliance regalia. DO NOT buy What Stalker? pack. Keep killing bosses to get death mark from Stalker and he will come for you. When you kill him or make him flee, he may drop one of the blueprints of Dread, Despair and Hate. The only essential thing that needs your platinum is weapon and warframe slots. You don't even have to spend any single dollar if you know how to farm
Very Useful Sites and Guides
Keep Learning

Keep reading and learning about Warframe to get the best out of it. Here are some great sites you can use. These sites can help you as you level up gears and exploring nodes or unlocking planet. Wikia is also very useful when you want to farm resources or parts. It also provides useful builds, tactics and literally everything you need from this game. Use Warframe Builder to try mods on different weapons and plan for your next move with the help from Mogamu, the great Tenno.

Common Newbie Mistakes
How to stop yourself from doing stupid things

Regular Missions

  • Keep your eye on the map to follow you squad on top left corner of the screen
  • Expand the map by pressing M
  • Keep out from the hot zones in defense mission by climbing on high places if your health is low to prevent from being downed, which can leave the cyropod exposed as your squad has to revive you
  • Don't forget to activate life support
  • Don't randomly shoot kubrow dens. They can be lethal, so consider shooting it from afar.
  • Don't try to hack security when the room is full of enemy
  • Scout the area first if you're not sure how to reach where you want to go
  • Stop spamming your 4th ability all the time and save it when you're overwhelmed by enemies

Void Mission

  • Keep your hands away from button X in defense mission
  • Avoid laser traps at any cost
Kill the Boss without Getting Killed
The key to killing the boss without dying for newbie

First of, you have to encounter annoying old Captain Vor. Newbie tend to jump forward to attack and then BAM! the result? Downed instantly. Most of newbies' frames aren't heavily modded, thus getting behind cover near your teammates while taking down enemies and the boss at the same time is essential. Move around a lot to avoid being a still target and make sure you know what to do. For example, if you're using Rhino, you can use Roar to boost your squad's attack.

Before getting to the boss

  • Sift pass the crowds to the Boss to avoid taking damage
  • Try to get under the radar if possible
  • Scout the area to find good spot for camping
  • Make sure your squad is ready
  • Check your ammo, reload if it's low

While fighting with the boss

  • Know the tactic of the boss (which you can read from Wikia)
  • FInd weak spots
  • Stick together
  • Move around between covers
  • Keep an eye out of surrounded enemies
  • Don't solo. You may end up dead, hold back the squad and can get others downed.

After fighting with the boss

  • Collect looties
  • If you're low on health, rush to extraction

Main Bosses and Warframe Drop Location (I'm still working on it)
Where can you kill the bosses and get Warframe

Here's the map. This doesn't include special bosses from the quests, however. Use the guide below to defeat and get looties. If you're not strong enough, never go solo unless you want to die over and over again using all revives you have.

.

Strategy

Captain Vor
The talkative teleporter

Phase I - Jump around to avoid projectiles and DO NOT go melee. He will stab you with his Cronus.
Phase II - Avoid mines by standing at long distance using accurate secondary weapon. When the mine dies, move a bit closer and shoot him with primary weapon.
Phase III - Get behind the cover real quick before he starts using laser. Sprint between covers, watch out for mines and shoot him from distance.

Jackal
The rabbit

Avoid the shock wave which can knock you down by jumping or taking cover behind a pillar. The fastest way is to get under it and go full melee on his legs while one of your squad take down the ospreys or if you happen to use Excalibur, Slash Dash and Redial Blind will come in handy.

Sgt. Nef Anyo
Invisible but not so invincible

He's like another corpus with badass projectile shooter who can cloak himself. Avoid the projectiles, track him down by using projectile weapons like kunai which sticks on him or use Enemy Radar aura mod to help or, the easiest way so far, look at the mini map and follow the blue mark. Shoot his stupid hat off then you can do more damage, even more with magnetic, cold and impact damage. Using toxin damage can bypass the sheild so you may also use well a modded Acrid.

Sargas Ruk
The one who can set you on fire

Take out those annoying grineer minions around him first and be really careful not to go melee on him at any situation. You be be sent flying off, crash and burned. It's advisable to bring weapons with high ouncture damage with you and you can still exploit good ol' Excalibur's Slash Dash to pass through the fire wall if you have Excal or use Super Jump to avoid the fire. Stay behind the cover patiently, take out the grineers while you're waiting for him to attack and here's when the real offense time starts. Ruk is indestructable while his armor is still on but only for a short period of time after he uses his ability, he will reveal his vulnerable part depends on what phase he's in. Just keep shooting at the bluish generator and dodge incomings.

Alad V
Salad V the robot fanboy

Phase I - Zanuka possesses a near invulnerable shield, which can only be disabled after Alad's shields have been destroyed. During this phase, simply keep running away from Zanuka and attempt to damage Alad from a distance, as his Flame Pulse will keep close combatants at bay. It will be a lot easier using Mag's Shield Polarize if you have Mag in your squad.
Phase II - After Alad's shields have been removed, Zanuka's shields will be disabled, allowing both to be damaged. However, Alad will never die until Zanuka is destroyed. In the event that the squad continues to chase Alad and take his health down to zero, he will fall over into a Downed state, and Zanuka will rush to his aid and revive him. Upon revival, Alad's shields will be semi-recovered, meaning Zanuka will be invulnerable once more and the shielded phase has to be repeated. As the Bombs Zanuka deploys are purely for support, the only real threat it possesses are guided missiles, which can be tanked with moderate shields. Simply kite until it goes down or disable it with control skills like Vauban's Bastille.

Vor and Kril
The annoying duo

Want to beat the crap out of this duo and get what you came for? Listen to Lotus' advice and take Vor out first. He can teleport around you, thus dealing moroe damage and can easily down whole squad. Use the same tricks from the last time you defeat him, but you only have to move faster and stay alert all the time. Don't underestimate the duo or grineers. They can put you down a lot faster than excpected. For Kril, look for backpack and shoot it. Try to sift pass him using melee to make him go melee and shooting the backpack will be easier. Once it's borken, wait until he freezes himself and proceed to shoot. This way you can do a direct damage to his health. Rinse and repeat.

Kela De Thaym
The she-boss

There's nothing special about this boss. She's another damage sponge grineer with slow projectile weapon, respectively. You can use Rhino's Rhino Stomp to keep her in the air and BAM! you get a still target. You all know what to do with her.

Rotations
This will help you understand how the 'rotation' mechanism works

  • Rotation A: Rewards every 5 minutes > 5,10,15...
  • Rotation B: Rewards every 15 minutes > 15,30,45...
  • Rotation C: Rewards every 20 minutes > 20, 40, 60...

you need to remove the latron, reaper and frost prime from the drop locations as they are currently retired to the prime vault.

My basic tactic for fighting him is to simply equip melee, hold parry and run up. You will deflect almost everything, and can even turn his laser back on him. Then close to melee range , hold parry and strike after he finishes his attack sequence. If he summons his minions, be prepared and launch your ultimate/evade, as you won't last long while surrounded by a Grineer assault team.

For a longer range fight, empty your primary at max range and get rid of his shields (or use an impact pistol if you have one) then swap weapons, (duck for cover and reload while he's attacking) rinse, repeat. If he throws the disks which leave the arc traps and don't have your melee to defect the arcs, run like hell as you will probably lose all shields then get electrocuted. The lightning goes through walls, so simply taking cover is not enough, the only defences are your melee parry, or not being in range of the trap.

Great guide for newbies, thanks! I'm currently farming entry-level missions and would add:

Kubrow dens: Simply stand in front of the entrance and spam quick melee. If your weapon is any good you will simply rip their head off as they come out. If it gets too hairy, just jump up on top of the den then shoot them casually in the face as they can't attack you there. This is a bit of a time-waster, so only useful if you need ammo drops or farming for kubrow eggs/mods.

Captain Vor: DON'T run around outside - Grineer will shoot you from everywhere, and will infinitely spawn. Dive to the left under the pipe and use the hidden area as a sniping platform, they can't spawn in there. Then move just forward enough to activate the Captain. Run back to the entry corridor, where you can defend easily. It also stops Vor from telporting so far, making him an easier target.

"Warframe drop location" include not bosses only. Other missing information.

You forget about right farm:
0. find a party for collaborative game
1. Farm platinum = opportunity to use more weapons and warframes.
2. Farm blueprints/void keys/etc. = opportunuty to have all this (necessary!) things.
3. Farm resources and credits = get.
Have fun.
