How to share The Planet Crafter save files with your friends

My friend and I kept wanting to terraform our planet together, but we could never be online at the same time. Our save just sat there. Then I found a way to share it so either of us can host. This guide walks you through the setup and explains how it works. Takes about 5 minutes, then you can play whenever you want.

You'll need SaveSync (one-time purchase with lifetime updates)

Setup Steps

1. Close The Planet Crafter completely after creating a new save

2. Open SaveSync → Select The Planet Crafter
3. Click "+ New Save" → Choose your save

4. Wait for sync (green checkmark)
5. Click share icon → Add your friend


That's it! Your friend can now host your The Planet Crafter save.

How Your Friend Accesses the Save

1. Open SaveSync
2. Find the shared The Planet Crafter save
3. Click "Activate"

4. Launch The Planet Crafter and play!

How It Actually Works

Your Planet Crafter save is a single file sitting in a folder on your computer. It has a custom format where all the game data is packed together and separated by @ symbols. Normally, if you wanted your friend to continue your game, you'd have to find that save file, send it over Discord or email, and then your friend would have to figure out where to put it on their machine. And you'd do this back and forth every single time you play. That's the pain.

SaveSync does all of that automatically. When you share a save, it uploads your save file to the cloud. When your friend clicks "Activate," it downloads that file and puts it in the exact right spot on their computer -- the same folder where The Planet Crafter looks for saves. No hunting for folders, no manual file transfers, no "wait, where does this go?" The game just sees the save and loads it like normal.
