Description
Video Game Architect

Video Game Architect is a business simulation which lets you develop video games with your own game development studio. You build your office from the ground up and start by placing walls followed by the first desk.

At that desk, your character will work on the first game from your company. Beside working, the character has certain needs. He has to go to the toilet, eat, and rest before he can continue working on the game.

Developing a game you go through multiple phases. In every phase you narrow down what defines your game and what kinds of features it will have, while also looking for ways to promote it. So when the game is ready to be released, there are already thousands of people waiting to buy it. You can run numerous marketing campaigns suited for the chosen genre. Marketing is a very important method to get people excited about your game. To help you make the right decisions, the game shows you a number of statistics, including sales figures, hype, marketing, popularity of sub genres, etc.

Once you have enough money, you can hire programmers, artists etc. to work for you. Each staff member has skill points. Stamina for example lets him work for a longer period before he needs to rest. Every staff member needs his own desk, which is upgradable to give you the option for customization. A desk can get one additional monitor for your staff to be more efficient, or a graphics tablet which increases the skill of the artist working at that desk.

The game features an extensive build mode, letting you place walls, furniture, plants, toilets, etc. Arranging these things and minimizing the path of your staff members helps you a lot and reduces the risk that you have to rebuild certain areas later in the game. In a global market you get feedback on what genre currently is getting really popular, so you release your game right when its genre is at the top. We achieve that by having a system which reflects the size of the player base of a particular genre. That system is dynamic, so one year shooters are really popular, the next year a lot of people may lose interest.

Too long, didn't read feature list
  • Develop a video game
  • Run marketing campaigns to get people hyped about your game
  • Global statistics drive development decisions
  • Build your office and place walls, desks and decorate it
  • A well planned office with optimized paths increases the effectiveness of your staff
  • Upgradable desks to further improve your staff

The game is currently planned to be localized into german and english. We would love to support other languages, but our focus right now is on these two..

Where we are in development

Right now we are in pre alpha. We already have a good idea what the game is going to look like. The game progressed a lot in the last few months and we got a good chunk of features already built in ready to be connected together. We expect the game to be ready for release later this year. Please tell us what you think.
