Preface: A Guide to Enabling Touch-Activated Turning in BrVr
Welcome, fellow explorer of the Backrooms!

If you've found the default control scheme in BrVr Backrooms Virtual Reality to be slightly cumbersome, you're in the right place. Specifically, are you tired of having to physically click the control stick every single time you want to turn?

Please Note: This adjustment is made through the SteamVR controller bindings menu, not within the in-game settings of BrVr. Therefore, this guide is specifically for players launching the game via SteamVR.

By default, BrVr requires you to press the control stick down like a button—a "click"—to activate turning. This guide is dedicated to one essential quality-of-life improvement: changing the turn activation from "Click" to "Touch." Making this change will result in faster, more comfortable, and more intuitive controls.

In the sections that follow, we'll provide a clear, step-by-step walkthrough of the SteamVR menus to find and change this setting. Ready to make your navigation of the Backrooms smoother? Let's get started.
Changing The Configuration
Follow these steps to change the turn activation from "Click" to "Touch."

1. Open the SteamVR Dashboard
Once BrVr Backrooms VR is running, open the SteamVR dashboard.

For most controllers, including the Quest 3, this is done by pressing the Menu button on your left controller.

2. Edit the Game's Binding
On the small window for BrVr, select the "Controller Bindings" and then select the "Edit This Binding" button. This will take you to the controller binding interface.

Note: You will likely have to change your "Active Controller Binding" setting to "Custom" as shown below.

3. Navigating Your Right Hand Controller
At the top of the screen, take note of the tab corresponding to your Right Controller. The example below uses the Oculus Touch Controller layout.

4. Locate the Joystick Setting
Scroll down to the Joystick section. You will see that the "Use As DPad" setting with the current "Mode" being set to "Click." To change this, select the pencil icon at the bottom of box as shown in the example below.

Note: I already set mine to "Touch," but yours will be set to "Click."

5. Change Activation to "Touch"
From the pop-up menu that appears, select Touch as the new activation method.

Note: It should look like the screenshot above once done

6. Save Your New Binding
Select Save at the bottom of the screen. You will then be prompted to name and save your new configuration. Click Save Personal Binding to finalize the changes.

You are good to go! Relaunch the game if needed and enjoy BrVr as it was intended to be played.
