Demeter deep earth research station

Demeter base is a deep earth prospecting and mineral research facility on Pertam as part of planetary deep mantle research program started by Helion Extractives.

Helion Extractives (HE) is primarily a mining company, creating excavation technology of tomorrow and finding the resources to achieve the former across the entire solar system. Pertam had recently been discovered by HE and the first deep earth prospecting mission had been pioneered by HE's latest development - Earthpiercer MK2.

ᵀʰᵉ ᴰ³ ᵇᵘⁿᵏᵉʳ ᵈᵒᵉˢ ⁿᵒᵗ ᵉˣᶦˢᵗ

Surface side part of the base features landing pads for both cargo ships as well as a small shuttle, control tower, a radome and most importantly, the central shaft, which enables downwards movement for the Earthpiercer industrial excavator.

About 200m deep is the main part of Demeter base. The base is designed with small vehicles in mind- almost all parts of the base can be accessed with the provided forklifts. The base is split into three sectors, each serving a different purpose:

• Red sector - security, basic resource processing and staff accommodations
  
• Yellow sector - main storage facility, power management and central reactor
  
• Green sector - Drill control observatory, mineral laboratory, engineering bay and data centre

The main part of Demeter base can be reached via flightboards docked at their charging bays or the staircase by the pipe (nicknamed the staircase of shame).
