Orthographic Perspective

Description
Should be working with 1.18

I've had to rebuild the mod to work with the terrain changes introduced in 1.18 All Under Heaven. There may be some missing lakes and other visual oddities.

No Perspective Submod

Orthographic Perspective is a visual mod that flattens the game world into something similar to an isometric CRPG - which aren't isometric, most of the time, but anyway.

The mod does not actually change the projection, instead it lowers the game’s FoV and pulls the camera away to compensate. This shortens the distance between the fore- and back-ground, flattening the image like a Dolly Zoom. There is a performance cost to this, and a submod is available to remove the zoom.

Aside from lowering the FoV, the mod also implements the Chasm shader by Terrapass from the CK3 modding co-op, used to complement the mod with steep cliffs on coasts and rivers. Beyond the chasms, lighting and borders have also been changed to make the map pop out more with sharper shadows and colour.

Love the mod - it makes CK3 look so much better. However, with the latest update, i'm gettting huge graphics-related slowdowns, far exceeding prior versions. With only this mod enabled, the game is unplayable regardless of graphics settings. The submod helps a bit, but not enough to make it smooth enough to play. I have a 4090, so I doubt it's lack of beefy enough hardware. I know windows performance monitor isn't the best metric, but base CK3 w/ max settings uses ~25-35% of GPU compute, while CK3 with this mod maxes it out at 100% constantly (explaining the slowdowns).

I'm on the most recent nvidia drivers (581.80). CK3 is pretty bland looking without this mod, so I'd love to get it to work. Any tips for finding acceptable performance?

@kukakraft the pink borders issue is native to vanilla. Going to the main menu and reloading the save works for me, others report that reloading the game fixes it. Otherwise you may need to verify files.

No, I haven't. I'll give that a try and if it doesn't work, simply delete the borders. Thanks.

Added a fix for low spec settings

@Kukakraft
Sorry, I can't reproduce this issue on different graphical settings so I'm not sure. Have you tried resubscribing?

Otherwise you can try removing the new borders from the mod, located in gfx/map/borders

Hi, thanks for updating the mod. I do have one issue tho, all the border lines between counties look pink. I don't think I have any mods modyfing anything similar. Any ideas what might be causing it?

Updated for 1.18

I've rebuilt the mod to work with the new terrain textures and other visual changes introduced in 1.18 All Under Heaven.

It will look slightly different unfortunately since they have changed a lot of settings, but I tried to get as close as possible. There may still be some missing lakes and other visual oddities.
