How to upload GIFs (elongated) to guides on STEAM [Official Guide]

Official step-by-step detailed guide on how to upload/fix stretched GIFs in the "Guides" section on Steam!

We will use 1 code that will serve optionally if it doesn't work with everything explained below.
Copy only what is inside the quotation marks, i.e. "Text to copy"

You should get this:

Continuing, if you already have your .gif file, it's recommended that you follow the limits imposed by Steam, which is:

• The image must be square and at least 195px by 195px.
  
• It must not be larger than 2MB (2.08MB actual limit)

I'll try this gif of mine (ExampleGif.gif) which has a resolution of 270x480, weighing a total of 351.2KB, also meeting Steam's parameters.

So, before uploading our .gif file to our guide on Steam, we'll use this page (don't worry, it's secure). What does this website do? This secure page is a Hexadecimal Editor.





Click where it says "Open File" and search for our gif to upload to Steam. Once this step is complete, we should get something like this:

In my case, with the aforementioned .gif shown (ExampleGif.gif):



We will go down with the help of the bar to the last one and we will see in the last digit "3B":



We will change that "3B" and place it as shown in the image "21" yes, we place the number 21 once done that it should come out like this (Do not press enter or anything else, just place the number 21)



Once you've entered the number 21 to confirm it's correct, you'll see the shading change from yellow to yellow, going from a ";" to a "!", which means:

• Unedited GIF: 3B = ; ( ❌ )
  
• Already edited GIF with page: 21 = ! ( ✔️ )

Now we click "Save As" and replace the existing file.
Once modified, we're done. We return to Steam and upload our .gif as usual.

To clarify some important things and perhaps any questions you may have...



First, the difference and what we're looking to change with this guide.

⚠️ What if it doesn't work? Well, there are two easy answers. ⚠️

• If your gif is square resolution:

The first is that your GIF has a square resolution, meaning pixel by pixel, it forms a square (for example, 400x400). Therefore, this guide focuses more on GIFs with rectangular resolutions.
So, will I notice any change if my GIF has a resolution that forms a square? Yes, in fact, it will look slightly larger than normal. As I mentioned, if your GIF has a rectangular resolution, you'll notice the change more.

• If your gif has rectangular resolution:

If your GIF is 200x300, 300x600, or similar, create a rectangular shape pixel by pixel.
As you saw at the beginning, you'll need to use the following code (don't worry, it's safe):

This code will be used as follows: once you've done everything indicated in the guide, open it with F12 and go to the "Console" section. Paste the code and press Enter. Once it returns the result, you can upload it.
