Introduction

This guide was written in hopeful aspiration of aiding people (myself included) in the completion of every quest!

There are 4 basic categories: Main Quests, Side Quests, Unmarked Quests, and Repeatable Quests.

Main Quests are your primary story missions.

Side Quests are quests that are noted in the Quest section of the Pip-Boy.

Unmarked Quests are quests that aren't progressively marked within the Pip-Boy, but you may find note(s) relating to them in your Pip-Boy.

Repeatable Quests are exactly what they sound like — endless fetch-quests primarily centered around making money. Some of these have goals, but many are just endless pits.

If you like my content, please rate and award my guide so it gains more traction for other Couriers to enjoy! Good hunting!

Disclaimer

Note: It's difficult to do every quest in New Vegas, and some quests for specific factions prevents you from doing quests for other factions. Some alliances vilify you in other factions, some quests override other quests, etc. Through planning you might be able to iron out a few of these to do as many quests as possible but you'll find forks/crossroads you'll have to choose for.

Note: I won't be including the finale missions for factions in the areas listed as that may be too confusing. There are 4 prominent endings (Yes Man, NCR, Legion, Mr. House) to New Vegas. All of those contradict each other and take each other's places once you set down a specific path. I might include an additional section for those specific missions.

Sierra Madre Grand Opening!
Abandoned BoS Bunker
Self
Main Quest
After installing Dead Money, the Courier hears a mysterious broadcast about the Sierra Madre Casino. Investigating an old bunker, they’re knocked out and wake up in the Villa, collared and forced by Father Elijah to gather three others—Dog, Christine, and Dean Domino—for a high-stakes heist.
Find Collar 8: "Dog"
Villa (Villa Police Station)
Father Elijah
Main Quest
At the Villa police station, the Courier finds Dog, a nightkin with a split personality. Disabling radios to avoid collar detonation, they retrieve a holotape to summon Dog or God. Either can join as a companion—Dog boosts melee power, while God grants trap immunity and Sneak bonuses.
Find Collar 12: Christine
Medical District (Villa Clinic)
Father Elijah
Main Quest
In the Medical District, the Courier locates Christine trapped in an Auto-Doc. Navigating deadly speakers and invincible holograms, they shut down the clinic’s power to reach her. Once freed, Christine joins the heist crew and grants perks that slow collar detonation and enhance vending machine use.
Find Collar 14: Dean Domino
Residential District
Father Elijah
Main Quest
In the Residential District, the Courier navigates deadly traps, toxic Cloud, and ghost people to reach Dean Domino, a ghoul lounge singer holed up in an apartment. After a tense, booby-trapped negotiation, Dean can be recruited, granting perks that reduce Cloud damage and unlock martini crafting.
Fires in the Sky
Salida del Sol South
Father Elijah
Main Quest
After recruiting all collar-bearers, the Courier sends Dog/God to a switching station in Salida del Sol to help start the Gala Event. Depending on how the Courier handles the nightkin—by helping, manipulating, or trapping him—his attitude and fate later in the story will be affected.
Strike Up the Band
Puesta del Sol South
Father Elijah
Main Quest
To activate the Gala Event, the Courier escorts Dean Domino to a rooftop in Puesta del Sol. Dean hesitates, fearing the ghost people, and must be persuaded to stay—either by threats, activating holograms, or using skills like Barter or Speech. His trust in the Courier shapes his fate later on.
Mixed Signals
Puesta del Sol North (Puesta del Sol Switching Station)
Father Elijah
Main Quest
To trigger the Gala Event, the Courier escorts Christine to a switching station in Puesta del Sol North. After navigating traps and cloud-filled halls, Christine panics near the manual bypass room. The Courier can deceive her, threaten her, or help find an alternative—shaping her fate in the story.
Trigger the Gala Event
Salida del Sol North (Campanas del Sol)
Father Elijah
Main Quest
After placing all companions, the Courier ascends the bell tower in Campanas del Sol to activate the Gala Event. With fireworks in the sky and music blaring, the Sierra Madre gates unlock. Fighting through ghost people and speakers, the Courier returns to the Villa—triggering the next stage.
Put the Beast Down
Sierra Madre Casino & Resort (Cantina Madrid)
Father Elijah
Main Quest
After waking in the Sierra Madre Casino, the Courier must restore power and deal with Dog/God in the gas-filled Cantina Madrid kitchen. Their fate—death, domination, or unity—depends on speech checks and past choices. Once resolved and the gas sealed, the quest is complete.
Curtain Call at the Tampico
Sierra Madre Casino & Resort (The Tampico)
Father Elijah
Main Quest
To stop the collar signal, the Courier confronts Dean Domino in the Tampico theater. Depending on past choices, Dean may aid or betray them. Navigate holograms, disable speakers, and play Vera’s recording to end the threat. If Dean survives, he reveals secrets about the Sierra Madre vault.
Last Luxuries
Sierra Madre Casino & Resort (Executive Suites)
Father Elijah
Main Quest
In the executive suites, the Courier reunites with Christine. If she was helped earlier, she offers insight into Elijah and the Sierra Madre. If betrayed, she sets traps and turns hostile—requiring Speech or Science checks to defuse the situation. Her fate, like others, shapes the story’s end.
Heist of the Centuries
Sierra Madre Casino & Resort (Sierra Madre Vault)
Father Elijah
Main Quest
To access the Sierra Madre vault, the Courier uses Christine’s voice or a Vera Keyes holotape to unlock the audio-sealed elevator. Inside, they face holograms, toxic gas, and deadly traps while confronting Elijah. The Courier can fight, trap, or deceive him before escaping the collapsing vault with the treasure—or dying trying.

Just a heads-up to everyone: all of my location info in the guide was pulled straight from the Wiki pages for each area. If anything ends up being inaccurate, that’s on the Wiki contributors, not me. I just compile what’s listed there.

@Kevin the Skull, The Desert Ranger Armor isn’t in Fallen Rock Cave. That cave only has one of the Survivalist’s caches and the Compliance Regulator. The armor you’re looking for is actually over in Stone Bones Cave in Zion (Honest Hearts). It’s in the main campsite chamber on the raised platform in the back, next to the footlocker and the Survivalist’s terminal. It’s lying out in the open, not in a container.

Where exactly IN the Fallen Rock Cave can I find the desert Ranger Armor? I have looked a lot within that cave and have not found it

This guide is amazingly well done! I noticed the locations you structured is the "Path" you need to go before you reach New Vegas, right?
Starting from the bottom to the right and all the way up!

Are you planning on creating a guide like this similar to Fallout 4???
Cause you only made Fallout 3 and New Vegas.
