After the fall of the United States due to a devastating total economic collapse, the European Powers tried to reform the United States and colonize it. However, the international community and the people found this as aggressive. This led to mass rebellions all across the NATO countries that tried to colonize.

Because of NATO's collapse, the CSTO and asian states were able to prosper. However, the former NATO countries may or may not have been rebuilding their former glory via colonies. They were able to do this because they all knew their military wouldn't be enough to stop all these rebellions, so they sent their military to other lands in order to try and rebuild their nations. Some weren't very lucky, and were not able to establish any colonies. They will be the first to perish. China also is not doing great either after the CSTO invasion.

The rest of the world is in turmoil due to the absence of major trade powers like the EU, USA, and China.
