CS2 Ranks Explained – Premier, Competitive & Wingman
By Vault Lord
How CS2 Ranking Works

CS2 uses different ranking systems for Premier, Competitive, and Wingman. Unlike CS:GO, CS2 focuses more on round wins, personal performance, and consistency instead of just wins and losses.

1. Premier Mode – CS Rating & Leaderboards

Premier Mode ranks you with a CS Rating (ELO-based system) instead of traditional ranks. Your rating is visible as a number and affects your placement on the regional & global leaderboards.

CS Rating (Premier Mode)
Skill Level Equivalent
0 – 4,999
Silver – Low Gold Nova
5,000 – 9,999
Gold Nova – Master Guardian
10,000 – 14,999
DMG – LEM
15,000 – 19,999
Supreme Master First Class
20,000 – 24,999
Global Elite
25,000 – 29,999
High Global – Semi-Pro Level
30,000+
Pro-Level / Top 100 Leaderboard

How to Rank Up in Premier Mode:
• Win rounds, not just games. Round differential matters.
• Performance matters. MVPs, K/D, and clutch wins help.
• Play consistently. Streaks affect your CS Rating gains/losses.
• Stick to a few maps. Don’t spread your CS Rating too thin.

2. Competitive Mode – Classic Ranks

CS2 still has the classic matchmaking ranks for Competitive (5v5), separate from Premier.
• Ranks are the same as CS:GO, from Silver 1 to Global Elite.
• Your rank is determined by win/loss ratio, MVPs, and personal impact.
• Your Competitive rank is different for each map.

CS2 Competitive Ranks
Skill Level
Silver 1 – Silver Elite Master (S1 – SEM)
Beginners
Gold Nova 1 – Gold Nova Master (GN1 – GN4)
Casual players
Master Guardian 1 – Master Guardian Elite (MG1 – MGE)
Intermediate
Distinguished Master Guardian (DMG)
Advanced
Legendary Eagle (LE) – Legendary Eagle Master (LEM)
Highly skilled players
Supreme Master First Class (SMFC)
Near-pro level
Global Elite (GE)
Top-tier players

How to Rank Up in Competitive Mode:
• Win consistently. Losing streaks drop you fast.
• Avoid deranking penalties. Abandoning or getting kicked lowers your rank.
• Personal performance helps. MVPs, bomb plants, and high ADR matter.
• Play with better teammates. Higher-rank players = better opponents = faster rank-ups.

3. Wingman Mode – 2v2 Ranks

Wingman is CS2’s 2v2 ranked mode, played on smaller versions of standard maps.
• Uses the classic CS:GO rank system (Silver to Global Elite).
• Ranks are separate from Competitive & Premier.
• Winning & individual impact (clutch rounds, ADR, K/D) matter more in Wingman.

Wingman Ranks (Same as Competitive)
Silver 1 – Silver Elite Master (S1 – SEM)
Gold Nova 1 – Gold Nova Master (GN1 – GN4)
Master Guardian 1 – Master Guardian Elite (MG1 – MGE)
Distinguished Master Guardian (DMG)
Legendary Eagle (LE) – Legendary Eagle Master (LEM)
Supreme Master First Class (SMFC)
Global Elite (GE)

How to Rank Up in Wingman:
• Find a good duo. Chemistry and teamwork matter more in 2v2.
• Map control is key. Holding tight angles wins rounds.
• Use utility smartly. Smokes & flashes are game-changers.
• Win clutches. Being last alive often = impact plays.

How to Rank Up in Premier Mode Faster
1. Win More Rounds, Not Just Matches – Aim for 13-5 wins instead of 13-11 struggles.
2. Master 2-3 Maps – Playing a single map consistently helps you climb faster.
3. Improve Utility Usage – Knowing key smokes, mollies, and flashes is crucial.
4. Play with High-Rated Teammates – Winning against better players boosts CS Rating gains.
5. Stay Consistent – Losing streaks hurt; avoid tilting and keep playing smart.

Which Ranks Are Considered “Good” in CS2 Premier?
• 10K+ CS Rating = Above average, most casual competitive players are here.
• 15K+ CS Rating = High skill level, typically Supreme/Global Elite tier.
• 20K+ CS Rating = Elite players, near FPL-C (Faceit Pro League Challenger) level.
• 25K+ CS Rating = Semi-pros, streamers, and some professional players.
• 30K+ CS Rating = Absolute top-tier, found in professional esports tournaments.
