Rage cheaters don’t last long because auto-detection systems catch them quickly. The bigger issue is closet cheaters, who try to avoid detection while still gaining an edge. A global ban system helps track and remove these players across multiple servers, making it much harder for them to stay undetected.
Saying this provides a "false sense of security" ignores the reality that it’s an extra layer of defense. No system is perfect, but making cheating more difficult and time-consuming absolutely helps reduce the problem.
Realistically when people cheat on Unturned they usually:
a) Rage hack on 3-4 servers, get banned, get bored and hop off the game
b) Repeatedly harass/disrupt one server, over and over and over again.
Both of these scenarios are completely unaffected by global bans, they do nothing to stop those patterns which I'd say are definitely the most common with cheaters on this game. No one really closet cheats long-term on this game, although that does sometimes happen.
My point is that this doesn't actually do anything, if anything this gives server owners a false sense of security.
For most cheaters, picking a new server is easier than dealing with the hassle of evading bans. It is not a perfect solution, but pretending that doing nothing is better does not make sense either.
We are NOT:
* sharing every single player's IP address who joins one of our servers with everyone, only players that have actually been globally banned from our server.
* migrating all bans, only cheaters and ddossers.
Normal players are literally unaffected by this system, like just don't cheat its not that hard.
We will take constructive criticism and are already discussing how to making adjustments to accommodate some of your suggestions and further respect player's privacy.
Unturned is a free game running on Unity and has literally no anti-cheat if you're running on Linux, a child can make cheats for it. It's necessary to do something about it and I don't see you doing anything to help the situation other than lashing out because you and Jdance have some beef that no one really cares about.
Clearly you have a problem with Jdance but this is not the place for it.
There is absolutely zero accountability should be expected form the people running UCS, Jdance should not be trusted with this power.
