The Remaster of Gothic II: Gold Edition is the most graphically complex version of the game to date while maintaining its originality in terms of story, look and gameplay. All areas and locations were basically retained as in the original - except for the now much higher level of detail in the game worlds.

The project is based on content from the L'Hiver Edition of unknown111, revised worlds from the High Vegetation Mod by felsenschmied, bugfixes by Falugify and further graphic packs from Artemiano, Bentraxx, CeeX, ExCluD3D, Halk_Hogan, LordRiisis and Vurt. Without the individual works of these developers, the project would not exist in this form.

From all the individual packages, the most authentic and suitable objects and textures were selected and a variety of detail corrections were made. The package also contains new and upscaled textures as well as various adjustments and bug fixes - always with the claim to maintain the recognition effect of Gothic II and to intensify the atmosphere through higher detail and an overall fancier game world.

Essentially, the following edits have been made:
  • In addition to the collection of objects or meshes, the most suitable and beautiful textures from the graphic packs mentioned were put together into a new, independent package and graphically adapted to each other, e.g. through new transition textures, exposure adjustments and color corrections. Optimized original textures are also used in many places.
  • Many textures for paths, floors, roofs and walls have been reworked so that their constant repetition in the game is less noticeable and they fit better into their environment. The flora has also been graphically adapted so that, in contrast to the High Vegetation Mod, it looks even more natural and thus harmonizes better with the game world.
  • In some cases, completely new textures have been implemented - especially in the addon world. The inventory and menu of the game have also received a graphical facelift.
  • Many of the textures used have been optimized with a modern A.I. image upscaler and individually sharpened. Thus, monsters as well as faces and armor of the NPCs appear much more detailed - without alienating them. In addition to better polygon models and textures, all NPCs have received a correction of the partially asymmetrical eye area.
  • The seawater in Gothic II has been replaced by an elaborately animated water texture from the HD Mod by Bentraxx for the game Thief II - The Metal Age. This means that the water now looks much more appealing even with the original renderer in Gothic II. The more beautiful waterfalls from the L'Hiver Edition also find their way into the modification in a further optimized form.
  • The Remaster also contains many bug fixes in the game worlds compared to the original and the High Vegetation Mod. Incorrect objects and textures have been removed or corrected. In addition, more details have been added. The scripts for particle, sound and visual effects have also been revised and supplemented with further features, such as ambient lightning by magic.

MiniMod Balance:
Tricky's MiniMod Balance focuses mainly on changes to the game's balancing. The learning point system has been revised and there are now "perks" that make the game experience more credible. The mod is adapted to the Gold Remaster version and is only available in German.
With the help of the tool Tools Easy Gothic Mod Translator[www.worldofgothic.de] by Lord Sargon I can also offer the MiniMod Balance for the languages English, Polish and Russian (even if only with Google translator).

Tips:
You need the original game incl. the addon The Night of the Raven in the latest official version. Gothic II: Gold Remaster should be playable without having to install extra tools. However, if you want to install additional mods, subscribe to and activate the tool Union 1.0m.

For a nicer look, I also recommend the D3D11 renderer for Gothic II. This is something for you even if you like the old graphic charm. Because it offers you many options for additional settings (FOV, shadows, ...) and brings Gothic II up to the state of the art.

@Michal Same here. It seems to be bugged. Because every other dragon in this particular version has the dragon talking about the eye of innos losing its power and an animation plays, except for Feodaron. NH just tells him to stop babbling, conversation ends but Eye of Innos doesn't lose power so the game just thinks we never had a chat so the dragon remains immune.

The conversation with Feodaron is bugged so the gamestate doesn't update.

started the game on my laptop, and the textures disappear and change quickly. The character is completely invisible. What should I do? My laptop is powerful.:steamsad:

Hey. I'm at the end of G2 with this mod and I'm having a blast! However I probably found a bug.
I'm playing as a dragon hunter and i cannot do ANY damage to Feodaron. Any spell, summon or weapon cannot harm him. I have working Eye of Innos equiped and nothing happens to the dragon.

@|HTD| Kortzfleisch Versuch mal die Mod zu deabonnieren und wieder zu abbonieren. Du kannst prüfen, ob du wirklich workshop Version nutzt (Eigenschaften->Betas->Workshop Beta).
@Hybris86 I am aware of the update from Marco Marwin. I will look into this in the near future.
@OldFatGuy You can download it from the links in the description. I don't know if there is a standalone version in the Workshop.

Ist irgendwas passiert?
Nach einem PC-Wechsel und daher Neuinstallation von Gothic und dem Mod funktioniert der Mod nicht mehr. Im Gothic-Loader kann ich nur zwischen Klassik und Nacht des Raben wählen, nicht mehr den Mod auswählen. Bei den Spieleinstellungen in der Ladereihenfolge wird der Mod aber angezeigt.
