Description
GD3D11 (Gothic Direct3D 11) Renderer

This mod for the games Gothic and Gothic II brings the engine of those games into a more modern state. Through a custom implementation of the DirectDraw-API and using hooking and assembler-code-modifications of Gothic's internal engine calls, this mod completely replaces Gothic's old rendering architecture.

The new renderer is able to utilize more of the current GPU generation's power. Since Gothic's engine in its original state tries to cull as much as possible, this takes a lot of work from the CPU, which was slowing down the game even on today's processors. While the original renderer did a really great job with the tech from 2002, GPUs have grown much faster. And now, that they can actually use their power to render, we not only get a big performance boost on most systems, but also more features.

Features:
  • Dynamic Shadows
  • Increased draw distance
  • Increased Performance
  • HBAO+
  • Water refractions
  • Atmospheric Scattering
  • Heightfog
  • Normalmapping
  • Full DynamicLighting
  • Vegetationgeneration
  • Hardware Tessellation
  • Editor-Panel to insert some of the renderers features into the world
  • Custom-Built UI-Framework based on Direct2D
  • Rewritten bink player for better compatibility with bink videos
  • FPS-Limiter

Gothic II Gold Remaster Normalmaps:

How is this mod different from the regular "D3D11 Renderer Mod"?

@resizt I assume 2794214493 is a set workshop id of Gold Remaster mod, so it should be the same for everybody. And id of your Gold Remaster + MiniMod seems to be 3372979990. Just put some disclaimers about it in the description

@Rowa First of all, thanks for your research. As you correctly mentioned, this is just a reupload in the workshop so people can use this mod more easily. Having to adjust the folder afterwards is really annoying. It’s possible that the normal maps simply can’t be used in the workshop this way, unfortunately. But with your input I can take another look and see if this can be improved somehow, or at least provide some instructions how to get it to work.
Regarding the number of files, there was an update some time ago. Maybe that’s where the difference comes from? This set of normalmaps is from November 2024.

Also your normalmaps folder has 100 less files than the one from ModDB

In order to make normalmaps in GD3D11 actually work, their folder needs to be named exactly after the mod you're trying to launch. In my case, according to GD3D11 log, I was launching "2794214493_GOLD_REMASTER" - that's this one. So after renaming "Normalmaps_Remaster" to "Normalmaps_2794214493_GOLD_REMASTER" in "GD3D11\Textures\replacements", they finally loaded.
For a workshop reupload of other people's work for the sake of convenience, I had to do a lot of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ manual work and research, good job.

When I press F11 to access the settings, the cursor stays locked to the screen center and I can't change any settings. How do I unstuck the cursor?
