Guam Reclamation

Description
After the successful defense of Hawaii from a Soviet invasion, we are ready to take back Guam. Satellite intelligence shows the USSR has fortified the island with an extensive air wing and SAM batteries. 2 enemy SAG's are also present to defend the island, possibly accompanied by submarines. Assets available to you are the Nimitz CSG and Tarawa ARG. The Tarawa must make it to the landing area for the mission to be a success. Air superiority will be difficult to achieve but necessary to survive. Expect heavy air and sea based attacks. Good luck.

Great mission...just took me 7 and a half hours to finish....lost 13 planes and a sturgeon....don't want to spoiler here, but to finish did require more than just send a lot of planes and shoot a lot of missles....best Saturday in a looooong time love the game and love your mission!!!!!

I moved the CSG and ARG further from Guam for a more realistic approach and more prep time.

I survived the air war, also those nifty surprises. 1 missile made it thru and it hit the bloody Nimitz putting it out of action. Without air support I have to start again, hope the save function will come soon :steamhappy:

I'm able to cut down enough of them with F-14's for the CSGs and ARGs to handle the rest, but you are right that its difficult and doesn't always work. I didn't want to spawn the Tarawa too far away so the travel time wouldn't take forever, but it might be best to push it back a bit and maybe have some recon and CAP already spawned in from the carrier. I will work on editing it later today. Thank you for the feedback!

How i did the initial barrage. If you survive that be ready for more surprises. :steamsad: Wont spoil that Run like hell to create extra time. Put jammers above the CAG's, to jam the missiles. Create distance with the Tarawa from the rest of the CAG thru the formation editor, let her run towards the fleeing Nimitz so the missile defence can help out. Dont put her behind the rest of the CAG but more south so if missiles bleed thru she is not there.

Tarawa cannot survive from the very beginning attack. It doesn't make sense that you send a heavy attack force to Guam (of course, expected heavy Soviet defending force) without minimun scouting and CAP protection. Even with the protection of EA-6 and SAMs firing from the max range. Still have lots of P-500 overrun the system.

Oh Man, if you think you can dominate this game, try this one. It can be done but without a save feature, say goodbye to your sunday :) And i mean 4 hrs plus. Really awesome !!!
