Description
Currently makes all smaller objects and missiles such as the AGM Harpoon have a slightly larger Radar Cross Section so that they can be detected beyond point blank range (if they were detected at all), the standard value of 0.1 causes unrealistic detection distances. Many radar systems failed to detect even medium sized missiles before impact (HY-2 / Silkworm Coastal Battery). Mine Clearance should also be more realistic. Please provide any honest feedback regarding your experience with detection ranges! The Radar Cross Section Values for Objects of the smaller classes have been adjusted:

- VeryTiny = 0.001 -> 0.01

- Tiny = 0.01 -> 0.1

- VerySmall = 0.1 -> 0.7

- Small = 1.0 -> 1.6

Currently, All Dual-Purpose Air-Surface Search Radars are only able to scan for Air targets. This means that many Surface vessels rely on their smaller, shorter range Surface Search radars. (Around 50km) As such, it is difficult to accurately adjust the larger values beyond Small. When this issue is fixed, larger values will be tuned as well.

@AreYouOk? Yes the Harpoon is subsonic but like most Western missiles it is a sea-skimmer. The idea of a sea skimmer is that the detection range is lower, due to the curvature of the earth but most importantly the fact was the interference from the sea surface clutter made detecting these missiles, and subsequently the interception difficult. 1960's to 1980's Soviet radar, and early Western radar would not detect these missiles until they were close. Many intercepting missiles also could not be effective near the surface either.
Current radars and processors have changed this and detection/interception are earlier/easier. That is why more missiles are becoming faster and reducing time to intercept which Soviet era missiles are designed to do and they do it very well.
I believe the mechanics in Sea Power are not modelling the interference in the surface clutter well and allowing any missile to intercept sea skimmers which is not historically accurate.

Commenting that I currently have this turned off because it looks like the most recent patches may have addressed some of the issues this was compensating for.

@Elinter The harpoon is a subsonic anti-ship missile, that is what you'd expect when facing anything remotely competent of anti-air.

Is this mod still necessary to get things more realistic, or were the issues this was patching addressed yet in the latest patch today?

Absolutely ruins the harpoons capability. Almost all get shot down by the enemy.

Played several US carrier ops with it...really like the challenge it poses when attacking well defended fleets....@Magoozle use multiple vectors in the same sector + a little raspberry jam ;) and 2 x 4 E6A / Heavys + 2 EA6Bs will make short work of them.

It also nerfs your own missiles, badly. I launched a combined salvo of 60 harpoons and 109b's with ECM support and 1x sovremeny 1x kirov and 1x udaloy destroyed every one

@Frankly Franky No, This add-on doesn't change any behaviors. That is an issue in Sea Power, which is still subject to improvement.

Would this change how the F4s fire at targets? I had a flight of 2 fitted with AA and they refused to shoot at targets. They tried to, they had plenty of room, but would show as targeting then would auto switch back to CAP and just fly away into the sunset.

My guess is no, as i tried a custom scenario with and without the mod and without it they managed to fire, but still had the great idea to fly away from the enemy most of the time. Probably a game bug

@Djuice It might be possible to add additional categories, I will look into it.
