Description

It's time to put on a thick coat and scarf as we hike our way up the mountain to Himalaya!

Set in the eponymous mountain range in Nepal, Himalaya will see you taking a comfortable vacation at a mountain-top Nepalese monastery with a breathtaking view over the mountain range.

Here at the resort, you may find yourself taking in the relaxing sights, or taking a scenic stroll around the cliff-side. Just remember to be careful, as we forgot that we were legally obligated to install guard rails this high up.

But what is Freeze Tag? It's Arena mode, but when a player would normally die, they are instead frozen solid. Their team can thaw them out by standing near them, but watch out, as enemies can block thawing just like a control point. A team wins when all of the enemy players are frozen, or if they capture the control point that opens up after a map's given time.

Freeze Tag's take on the Arena formula aims to provide more of a “back and forth” than a standard Arena game normally would, as allowing players the ability to bring their teammates back from the dead gives them more sway over the outcome of a match.
Should they push in and stop an enemy from thawing out a teammate, or should they retreat and find some teammates of their own to thaw out to turn the tide of battle in their favour?

Again, I enjoy this gamemode and think it's fun, it's way less egregious than something like Prop Hunt or Zombie Infection, I just don't think it belongs as officially being added.

With Perks and Freaky Fair, you can get upgrades to allow Medics to revive you like in MVM. These maps are both Halloween restricted, and even then only Medics can revive you which makes it less of an emphasis where in this gamemode everyone can do it, making the Arena/Deathmatch part of it less important.

For what it's worth, the only arena map mentioned that has revivals in it is Perks, and from what I remember it was very positively received when it was added to the game.

VSH is more popular on community servers than Valve servers, and considering only around 30% of the playerbase plays on community servers I think that says something ahout the gamemode being on official servers.

I don't really get your other point, no one has done it before so that's why it hasn't been added makes no sense in terms of it fitting the game. It would be saying like no one has made Prop Hunt or some other wacky gamemode before, so you don't know if it's gonna be added or not!

wtf are you talking about Asomn about VSH after the summer update? That gamemode despite being in Misc gets almost full to full lobbies. Also your take is absolutely horrendous, the only reason revive based arena maps has not been in-game is due to scarcity of said maps, besides Perks, Graveyard, and Freaky Fair, no one has made a revival based take on Arena til now.

Just in terms of visuals, this may be the prettiest map on the workshop right now. it's extremely good. That being said, I wish it supported a more standard gamemode and not just freeze tag.

I mean, Prophunt was bombarded with thumbs down so even all those shitpost "Donetsk Zavod" maps has better chances to get in game compare to PH but okay.

Smissmas maps usually fit the standard of the game, with some rare exceptions like Krampus. They might not all be good, but they use the standard gamemodes and fit TF2 from a gameplay standpoint, there hasn't been any wacky gamemodes added to Smissmas.

Smissmas is the only real chance for maps to get put in the permanent map pool because most of them fit standard TF2. The fact that prop hunt wasn't added kind of shows this, it could have been last year's wacky community gamemode, but they realized Smissmas shouldn't have stuff like that and thus didn't add it.

I mean... If it will be pushed to Smissmas update it would be event-only mode too. Just saying.

I do agree that it works well for Arena style maps, I was more so pointing the absurdity of saying respawning is like just reviving automatically and that because it's in PVE it fits in PVP. Saying "are we even playing the same game" to calling out a mechanic that is never used in PVP outside of Halloween maps is pretty ignorant.

I still don't think it fits the stock game however, there is a reason that maps that allow revives such as Perks or Freaky Fair are Halloween only. Reviving takes away the emphasis of the arena FPS side of TF2 , making deaths less impactful. I enjoy the gameplay of this map/gamemode, but it belongs in community servers instead of being yet another community gamemode that dies on official servers after the update is over (VSH).
