A community-driven complete overhaul to bring balance and choice to the new world of Beyond Earth

EXAMPLES OF CHANGES:
  • TRADE - Less Trade Routes, and heavily nerfed Internal Trade Routes
  • SPONSORS - Changes to Sponsor abilities that are both more balanced and interesting
  • STATIONS - Start further away to stop from getting in the way of city placement
  • AFFINITIES - Affinities are more balanced and level up faster early-on, then slower late-game
  • AI - Improved Tactical and Alien AI for a greater challenge in combat
  • LOADS MORE!
Beyond Balance (or the cute 'BeBa' for short) is a complete overhaul of Beyond Earth in an attempt to bring balance and varied choices to the player. It's a project in the same vein as Thalassicus' communitas, and like communitas, it's starting small. Right now, only a handful of changes have been made to fix glaring errors in balance. All changes have been made based off of comments on the CivFanatics forum, various Lets Plays, and my own experiences. Importantly, all changes are up for discussion, alteration or deletion. I believe that a modder should try his or her very best to not get attached to any changes, and so if the vast majority of the userbase feels a change is shoddy, it'll go, end of story.

The goals of this patch, in no particular order, are:
  • BALANCE - Creating a game where no single playstyle or system is vastly superior to its alternatives.
  • CHOICE - Giving the player a wide option of pathways to follow, creating a unique game each playthrough.
  • FUN - Well, duh. It's a game, after all!
This mod, like any other successful balance patch, will be a collaborative effort, and any and all suggestions are welcome! I'll be keeping an eye to the Civ Fanatics forums for complaints about either Beyond Earth or this mod in particular, so please do complain away!

This mod seems to be discontinued since the patch addressed a lot of the balance issues that were fixed by this mod. Hasn't been updated since October.

My problem with this mod, is the lvling up of Affenity. From my two play throughs thus far it feels like it is more sluggish in the begining to gain points in Affenity, but then speeds up late game. And I think it does that because the mod takes away affenity quests and a lot of them are in Early game. It kinda does the opposite on what is advertized. Now my oppenion alone really ammounts for nothing, but have any of you guys made the same observation as me?

Every time i try to play with the mod, it messes with my unit command. It tells me that i can air sweep with a worker. Basic commands are missing too. Not sure what to do. Balanced sponsers are good though!

Great mod, but you made the aliens docile and useless. Zero threat from aliens. I'm seriously exterminating them on apollo and they aren't even fighting back.

Great mod. Would this mod make it where I can't lauch or make any Satellite Units?

I wasn't able to make any until after I saved and restarted and used the Ingame Editor to make one...

I was only using this mod at the time so I wanted to ask.

Is this mod compatable with Tweaks and Changes mod? After I play for about 50 turns I saved the game and quit. When I came back the unit UI was messed up. For example the all my units would have the Tacjet buttons but I cant click them And the tacjet would have the Workers buttons.
