Purpose
At the time of writing this guide, Quest Master's shape condition/trigger system is all or nothing. If you want to spawn a group of enemies when the player either steps on a switch or opens a chest, you can't do that.

Thankfully, the game has an extremely versatile set of tiles and items at its disposal!
With a clever combination of the Arrow Trap, the Crystal Switch (or Lever), and Retractable Blocks, you can have shapes trigger when complex conditions are met.

Reading This Guide
This guide is designed to be a visual reference, and each of the logic gates will be shown as a screenshot of the Quest Master editor to show you how to create them in your own levels. While it should be straightforward, it's important pay extra attention to the the eyes of the Arrow Trap.

Aside from that, each of the shapes used in this guide have a specific purpose:

Shape
Purpose
Description
Square
Input A
The gate's first input state.
Triangle
Input B
The gate's second input state.
Circle
Output
The gate's output state.
Diamond
Set
When triggered, causes the gate's output state to trigger.
Cross
Reset
When triggered, causes the gate's output state to reset.
OR Gate

This is the OR logic gate.

When either the square or triangle are triggered, the circle will be triggered.

Variants:

Uses:
  • Use the self-triggering OR gate to spawn enemies when the player does one of two things.
AND Gate

This is the AND logic gate.

When both the square or triangle are triggered, the circle will be triggered.

Variants:

Uses:
  • Use the self-triggering AND gate to require the player to trigger two different shapes before something happens.
NOT Gate

This is the NOT logic gate.

As long as the square is not triggered, the circle will be triggered.

Variants:

Uses:
  • Making Whirlwinds disappear instead of appear.
XOR Gate

This is the XOR logic gate.

As long as the either the square or triangle (but not both) is triggered, the circle will be triggered.

Variants:

Uses:
  • Having the player choose between one of two paths or items, but not both. (Thanks PLMMJ)
NAND Gate

This is the NAND logic gate.

As long as the the square and triangle are both is not triggered, the circle will be triggered.

Variants:

Uses:
???
NOR Gate

This is the NOR logic gate.

As long as neither the square nor the triangle have been triggered, the circle will be triggered.

Variants:

Uses:
???
XNOR Gate

This is the XNOR logic gate.

As long as both the square and triangle are either both triggered or untriggered, the circle will be triggered.

Variants:

Uses:
???

Hey no problem. :steamhappy:
Its done that to me a few times with things also.

Thanks for pointing that out. Steam lost/deleted every image I uploaded to this guide, along with a few images in other guides :/

All the images are gone [ibb.co]? :steamsad:

Great find for XOR gates! I'll add it to the guide.

I came up with a use for the XOR gate: A room where you only want the player to take one item of a set down that item's associated path, but don't want to make them backtrack once they've done both paths. Pretty niche but enh.

Big thanks for making this Guide especially for the pictures. Very useful even outside this game as it easily illustrates the gate functions for other games that allow for similar layouts.
