Yes! The background music and the sounds for jumping and getting hurt are changeable.
- how many images can I use for charackter animations? is this limited or is there a minimum?
Yes, it's limited to make it easier to make your own characters. I didn't want people to be discouraged by so many frames to paint. There are 14 frames total to make a character. If you freeze frame the new steam trailer you can see the character page. Here's the video, at about 21 seconds in:

The character can up to three blocks/tiles. The jump height depends on how long you hold down the button/key. A tiny press jumps about 1/2 a tile high and the full jump is three blocks high, so the high jump clears three blocks high.

Yes, you can make a half height block tile and import it. The blocks can be any shape. The character will stand on any Normal Tile (the tiles on the layer with the character). The character can walk also up or down tiles with a slope. Normal Tiles can also have properties, so you can make a block slippery like ice, sticky like mud, bouncy like a spring, or act like a conveyor belt - moving the character back and forth when standing on it.

There are text boxes you can use to tell a story, but no AI characters.

It's all single images. .png format. You can import them through the game's interface.

Yes! Exporting is as easy as clicking Save & Export. The .exe and data go to their own folder so you can sell or share them :)

I'm hoping to get that stuff done this month (October), but the release date is still "when it's done" for now. Thanks for being patient everyone, you will get Steam keys when it's done no matter where you bought it!

I haven't set a date yet. I've got a build working on Steam with a stub in there for achievements. I'm working on figuring out what achievements to add...I don't want to rush that as I want the achievements to be interesting ones people will want to do, not boring ones or too easy or too hard.
I've also made jumping a bit more interactive and a whole bunch of other things have been improved. I had to move some of the data from the program folder for the Steam version as Steam has a set of files that remain the same for your game. The biggest improvement is there is now one-click Export to a stand-alone game, so you can sell or share your games with people who don't have Platfinity.
