Tips for achieving "One Shot" and "100 Times Too Many" in Alien: Isolation
Hey guys,

There is a total of 7 hidden achievements and 4 of those are unmissable story progression achievements. This leaves "One Shot", "100 Times Too Many" and "Run.Hide.Survive" but you'll get "Run.Hide.Survive" while doing "One Shot".

Hopefully in this guide you'll find everything you need to finish off those last hidden achievements

Achievement: One Shot
To achieve One Shot it requires you to finish the entire campaign without dieing once. At first this might seem like some epic BS but you're actually able to load your current save file before you are killed and still have the achievement count as long as you never reach the death load screen.

If you do reach the death load screen it saves your current death but you're then able to rewind to a previous save before you were killed and it still counts as having no deaths.

  • When the death animation is happening hit ESC and load your current save. This will negate the current death

  • If you're not quick enough at hitting ESC and you are killed reload to a "previous save" back before you were killed.
Warning: Loading "previous save" after dieing may only work once so if you want to play it extra safe load the "mission save" of the mission you died in.

  • Watch out for Synthetics when on low health, if they do grab you and you don't have enough health to survive it, hit ESC and reload before you die.

  • Also watch out for Face Huggers. It's possible to hit ESC before they kill you but their death animation is extemely fast.

  • Saving often and playing on easy will save you a bit of time and allows you to be more reckless like running through gun fire.

  • LCpl. Schultz pointed out that you don't need to start a new game when going for "One shot", you can simply load back to a save where you haven't been killed before but to play it extra safe i would start a new game when going for one shot.

Here's an example of when to reload to avoid a death counting:

Achievement: 100 Times Too Many
This achievement is basically just a grind by letting the Alien kill you 100 times. It can be done pretty much any time you can encounter the Alien but here is a few tips that might help speed it along.

  • It has to be the Alien that gets the kill, watch your health when around humans.

  • "Mission 17 - Desolation" is a great farm spot because you can load it anytime and there's a Human right there to help attract the Alien.

  • "Mission 18 - Tomorrow, Together" is another awesome farm spot shown by fold Jarl in his Youtube video that i'll link at the end.

  • The Alien death count stacks with multiple playthroughs, saves and DLC.

If you played to a certain mission and died, you can start again from that mission onwards later (as long as you do not start a new game, have not tested a new game). Works on any difficulty. To negate death: load your current save BEFORE the death screen. The death animations usually last about 2-10s, the earlier you press ESC, the better (FACEHUGGERS). If you're not sure whether the alien has got you, press ESC, check Ripley's position and give yourself one more second in live mode before pressing ESC again. This will be especially important when you have the FLAMETHROWER as the alien will just trample all over you after it gets scared by fire. This does, however, not kill you. :koikoijapan_momiji:

So I could try One shot on Simple mode?

Maybe it's just because i suck, but Mission 5: Find Dr Morleys Keycard seems like a great place to farm alien deaths, too. I died about 30 times there just trying play the game, not even farming lol

Is it necessary to complete the game in just "one shot" o is it possible to save part of it (of course without dying) to get the one shot achievement? Because I think the game is too long to keep your ass sitting to the chair many hours :)

any difficulty

You can complete "One shot" with any difficulty or does it have to be Hard mode or Nightmare?

Yes, if you restart from Chapter 14 you should be fine. I did that on Chapter 18 and still got it -although I didn't finish the game and then restarted.

Ah damn. I don't wanna have to play the whole game again D: those damn facehuggers haha

I think if you restart back to chapter 14 then you will have to continue until you beat the game to get it but i'm not even sure if that will work.

I started a new game when i went for no deaths unfortunately :(

A bit late to the party here, but does anyone know what would happen if I know I played the whole game without dying but messed up on mission 14? Do I need to complete the whole game again or can I just do mission 14 without dying?
