Know your primary targets
The first key to not dying is knowing your targets. There are two main bugs from the scout family that will kill your team just by infinite spawning more bugs.

and this cloaking invisible jerk

They will stop to emit an orange cloud in to the air, this summons more bugs to your area. Kill them first.
Know how to deal damage!
Damage Types

Light - anything pretty much unarmored

Medium - Robots and regular sized armored bugs

Heavy - Big honken enemies (not spitters though), this can also sometimes remove armor so other damage types can make contact

Explosive - Think of this as super critical damage when attacking weak points, this has been confirmed through testing and from the developers themselves and is not accurately reflected in the damage numbers on the gun as it's calculated on hit. Use ONLY if you know how to consistently hit weak points.

Fire - Bugs greatest weakness, applies a short lived dot as well

Energy - *Seems bugged, no noticable difference between this and ballistic* Robots greatest weakness

Bugs
For the most part you will want to run medium damage types, only use fire and explosive if you are good with them and also good at not hitting your own team as these have small AOE's.
If you encounter a heavy type and do not have any heavy weapons, your only save is to go after the weak points, usually under, behind or sometimes in the joints, look for the higher contrast colors.

Automotons
Energy or explosive. All automotons have armor, if you don't have energy weapons use medium armor weapons and aim for the head or glow point on the chest. They are also super weak to any EMP attacks so make sure everyone has at least one equipped.

A common strat for automotons is mortars when defending. This is because taking out the shuttles takes out the bots and it's the quickest way to get rid of them.

Weakpoints
I'm adding this for clarification. The majority of automotons have torso and head weakpoints. Head shots will pretty much be a one hit kill. You can use the below pic as a guide to almost all humanoid robots. The head is pretty obvious, for the torso you need to look for that glowing rod in the middle.

Know how to avoid taking damage!
Go Prone
Quick way to dodge a charger
Removes some status effects like slow or fire dot
Has some mitigation if you are to close to an explosion, should prevent an instant death at least.
If you have a teammate who placed turrets level with you, should help prevent you from being team killed.

Move as a group of no less than 2
While it may be faster for everyone to take on an objective solo and get a fast map clear. If you are caught in a reload, between patrols, facing multiple heavies, that second player is a god send to you not dying. They will be able to shoot the backs of all the heavy hitters chasing you.

Stealth
As mentioned later in this guide, not getting agro at all is the quickest way to not taking damage. If you can take out a nest without being detected at all you've just lowered the overall map dps by a chunk.
Ways to increase stealth
  • Crouching
  • Scout suit
  • Not making any noise, ie don't shoot unless you have to
  • Smoke - unverified
How to kill that tank without heavy weapons
Bugs

The tail or the joints are the weak unarmored points of this team killer. It's best to have one person run with agro and another person shoot their behind. If you are trying to solo this beast, dodge to the side when it charges and shoot while prone.

Bug weak point is typically the butt.

Automotons
The weakpoints on the bots are typically a bit more difficult to hit. For the tank it's behind the turret or medium weapons to the tank tracks also work. For the majority of the heavy hitting bots the waist, that small point where the legs and torso connect, is the best bet.

Tanks

Walkers
Adding walkers because I see a lot of people don't know that you can shoot the leg. I use medium rounds on it and it takes out the walker and the bot in it.
How to get samples for upgrading your ship modules
The rule for which resources are available and how many are available are difficulty based. You will see at the bottom of the mission screen anything grayed out is not available for that difficulty.

The most common resources are found near bug nests or destroyed outputs. They can look like plants, rocks, or flat containers. Any resources collected are for the entire team, so 4 common samples means each player gets 4 of the same sample. There is no need to be greedy against your team. If you die than your current samples get dropped and you or someone from your team needs to pick them up again.

Common samples

Rare samples

Super samples
You will want to look for this pillar and there are always 3 super samples around it
Commonly missed loot
Throughout the map you will encounter containers and boxes that look like they do nothing. WRONG. Chuck a grenade at one of them to blow it up and collect all those loot goodies.

Large container

Small containers near SEAF
Special note, SEAF containers sometimes contain mortor rounds.
SEAF and how to not tick off your team
Nearly every map has a SEAF on it, very rarely do I not see one. This is coming under the category of personal opinion. Do NOT load the SEAF with static or smoke rounds unless you have no choice. They really don't help much. You want to look for red tipped rounds for explosive or napalm and also there is a yellow round called a mini-nuke.

DO NOT DO THIS
How to get premium currency and badges for free!
You don't need to spend a dime on this game to get badges or premium currency. They are freely available for the most liberty minded individual. All you need to do is look for a gold beam in the air.

Once found you will find a larger container provided by super earth to make your killing sprees even more fun. They can contain anything from badges, premium currency, special weapons etc.

Clear those nests!!!
Any nest near your objective is an enemy to your object. The moment you start doing anything that could possibly summon a hoard, those nests will start spawning stuff until destroyed. So always clear nests and always do it before you start a nearby objective. I've had a team wipe 6 times due to a large stalker nest near an objective. Kill them hard!!!!

Adding this extra bonus fun tip since some people don't know how to take out automoton buildings. There are vents on the roof, the grenade goes in there, not the front door.

Should I kill it? Probably not!
I cannot stress this enough. If a patrol is near you and the battle music is not playing, you can skip the fight. The higher the level the more important this becomes as fights drain time and equipment. If you really want to get by without fights, equip a stealth suit and crouch. You can get close enough to tell a bugs religion without ever agroing the bug. Don't be that one person on a team of four who is dragging stuff to the team every time that could've been avoided.
How to identify where to leave
You lose samples and xp for every member lost at the end of the game. Don't be a victim and look for that blue light in the sky for where escape to.

Personal opinions
I'm saving this for last as everyone is going to have an opinion. If I see you equip the large aoe rounds, 120 and 380 rounds, I will kick you. I'm sure there are people who know how to not kill their teammates with them, but I've only ever encountered two people who didn't destroy the entire team with them. Their large area's are simply not worth the low and delayed damage they do. I've tried them out and each time found it difficult not to kill my teammates, it's just not worth it.

Snaky, I would love to see them fix the area of effect, or give you an option for fire for effect and concentrated, would solve a lot of my issue with the barrage

yeah ofc, lol thats just my opinion too and from using it my experiences are good. against robots on the hardest difficulties for example the barrages are so good at softening up the heavy bases, or anything thats fortified before going in to clear the rest out and is much more effective and safer to hit and disperse large portions before your assault then anything else really.

Taking out the energy damage bonus. Buddies and I have all tried different ways of using energy weapons and doesn't seem like there is any difference damage wise between it and regular ballistics, don't know if that's a bug or not that will be patched but for now, no bonus damage.

The leg weakpoint for chargers is brought up because a few people have been saying that the front legs have crit bonuses where the rear does not.

"I will kick you" lol how about just tell them why they shouldn't use it, otherwise they never learn

I would add with the SEAF if you spam E you can travel a bit faster with the shell

You can literally hit any part of them with a rocket or railgun to strip the armor it's not just the legs, I saw the same video and was wondering why they were leaving that out. The legs when damaged enough will just cause the charger to slow down a bit.

According to some players, there's a better way to kill the the chargers (armored bugs). If you hit one of their legs with a heavy weapon (rocket or railgun), it strips the armor and they take much more damage from there.
