HomeWorld II Mothership - Pride of Hiigara

Description
Hi there and sorry for my poor english (but in french, it would be less "international")

Here's my vision of the "Pride of Hiigara"... to be completed

I stop because my computer was not able to follow, and then I have a new one... so "on the road again".

You will find a Hiigaran fighter and a ressource's collector too.

I'm searching for a very good idea to control the huge door on the side of the ship, without contact, like in the game...

I try to add some screenshots and I'm back to work !

I suggest the tractor maglock. It would hold the door from a distance and you could have it mounted to a piston so all you have to do is extend that and the door would go with it. Perhaps use the new non-sticky blocks for the door edges.

Thanks !!
I'll try the remote control... even if I think its an half good idea (lots of remote control is a little hard to manage)
But the real work is on the Mothership, the little ones are far easier.
And for the interior, it's pure creation (just respecting the glowing white and blue colors for ships bays)

Looks like the real thing from Homeworld.

Also, your ships are beautiful.
My designs are usually Homeworld-inspired but if I try to recreate one of the original ships I can never make it look right. You've done an excellent job.

The resource collector might work better with remote control - you don't have to fit in 3x3x3 cockpits that way.
I would recommend using a separate remote control block for each direction you mount a camera - it's harder to fly when the camera direction does not match the control direction.

thanks for your constructive opinion

yes, there is few differences between my ships and real ones, but as you have created small and big ships, you know you have a choice to do between pure matching and reasonnable size.

Whit bigger ship, I could stick better with reality, but if the interceptor is bigger, the Pride of Hiigara will be to small to accept more than 4 of theses !!!

And there is the problem of keeping ships practical to use :

- I put a rocket launcher on the interceptor because gatling is not so efficient against ships... but the real one have none of this

- And I add a second cockpit to ressource collector because it's easier to run this way, even if it cut with the original shape

The Pride of Hiigara has mistakes too, it might be taller for a start (but I will not correct this).

A lot of work so...

The Pride of Hiigara its self is very good but I can give some critisism on the smaller ships.

you should move the cockpit on the reasorce collector to give it a more asemetrical look like the real one. Also the shape of the hull is not very accurate to the games. If you add more hight to the top it would look alot better.

If you were going for more of a homeworld inspired build for your interceptor then you did a pretty good job. I can deffinitaly identify it as the hiigaran interceptor but alot of things could be truer to the rea; ship. For example the cockpit you are using does not resemble the one used on the actual ship. I recommend switching to the vannila one. You also could elongate the hull a bit and move the cockpit over so the ship is assemetric as in HW.

Again, I can only praise your mother-ship as you have done an amazing job on it but your smaller ships could use some work.
