The End of the Beginning

Robots! Guns! Glory! Wait, forget about the guns.
S.W.A.P (Subterfuge Weapons Assessment Program) is an indirect first-person shooter featuring competitive multiplayer with an emphasis on strategic thinking and cooperation. You take control of a robot in a futuristic sports arena with your only ‘weapon’ being the ability to ‘swap’ with other players. Swapping involves launching a projectile that allows you to exchange bodies with opponents that it comes into contact with, and when combined with multiple traps in the environment, this sneaky ability can get you and your foes in all kinds of trouble.
S.W.A.P is online multiplayer only, supporting 2 to 8 players divided into 2 teams. The core game mode is a modified capture-the-flag, where you must compete to deliver virus fragments to the enemy base in order to crash their server. The game also includes a level editor, allowing players to develop their own arenas that are automatically sent to everyone when you join a match, making it super easy to play together using custom content.
The current build of S.W.A.P is in ‘open beta’ and available for free (and always will be) from our website. The final build will be available on September 25, however, we hope that this won’t be the end of its development.

We know that S.W.A.P could be so much more, but due to financial pressures we know that we need to focus our attention elsewhere. What you see before you is a completely playable prototype, a well-considered demonstration of the swapping mechanic that we found so incredibly interesting to play with. We’re currently collecting expressions of interest to begin a crowdfunding campaign for S.W.A.P so that we may truly take it to the next level. We’d love to rebuild it from the ground up, creating the game we always wanted it to be, and with enough support from the gaming community, that might even become a reality.

That looks awesome! I would definitely try this game if it came out on Steam.

As concepts go it's interesting but it's ultimately not something I would play.

Edited now, sorry that was a bit unclear - the announcement shows up before the description. It's much more difficult to contact supporters through Steam if we do reach our target and take S.W.A.P's development further. We're trying to link multiple promotional streams together in one place to make our numbers more valid, but registering your support through Steam is great too!

"We're looking for 20,000 wonderful people, and you can become one of them by registering at the link above." - What for? Surely just tapping 'thumbs up' shows support?
