Why I QUIT CS2 (For the time being.)

Counter-Strike seems to be in an uncompleted state in it's most modern iteration, and with all of the inconsistencies, have decided to stop playing CS2 for the time being. This is purely a personal anecdote about the game.

When did I start?

I started in 2017, JUST BEFORE the f2p update for CS:GO.


I played the Roblox ripoffs prior, and have just discovered that CSGO is Counter-Blox's source inspiration. (Cringe, but I was a child, alright?)

I played on my Dad's Macbook Air, I still have a few screenshots from this era.

Additionally, I discovered the older games, Counter-Strike: Source and 1.6 came next in my library. Both are EXTREMRELY SOLID games, and I've wasted so many hours of my life on both, and I don't regret any of it.

Source 2, what CS fans have been waiting for (In-Theory)

Source 2 Was always essentially a joke by the community. Much in the way that up until very recently, GTA 6 was only a meme. Then when it drops, everyone's all hyped, excited, and all... "What the fugg???? this is ACTUALLY happening?!". It used to be great, honestly. CS2 in it's limited test form, prior to it's 1.0 release, was pretty solid. Much in the idea that, we knew as players, that the game was NOT COMPLETE, and they were still ironing out the main mechanics of counter-strike.


Then, with deadlines approaching, they just 1.0 release the game in an incomplete state. Missing many maps, and OUTRIGHT REMOVING CSGO AS AN OPTION FOR PLAYERS.


CSGO is dead. All of it's communities it's built up over the years, gone, in one update.
All of those community servers I enjoyed for half of a decade of my life, empty, gone. wiped.

In a way, it was depressing. In another way, it was interesting. Life moves on, i guess.

Yet.. I haven't found any solid community servers in cs2! It hurts. It just doesnt hit the same as it used to.

Not to mention all of the glitches, the HTML Exploit, and all of the other concerns I may have as a player, and as a computer nerd.

Thank you. I deeply thank all of you. This game franchise has had a genuine impact on me as a person, has helped me find (hopefully) lifetime friends. And to those who have been on that ride with me along this roller-coaster of a franchise, THANK YOU.

Unfortunately, due to all of the issues behind CS2 that concern the player base, I have bee contemplating abandoning the franchise all-together, but I simply cannot.

I simply seek to take a hiatus and leave this guide as my small contribution to those that may not understand.

I honestly haven't been able to play for so long because of my computer. I've fallen out of contact with everyone to the point I cant even remember if I met people from cs-go or somewhere else, but now I don't even want to come back to it.

I quit playing because of the lags... I never had any problem with lags in csgo, but in cs2 I can't get rid of the lags...! Not worth playing anymore =/ unfortunately

i think you can still play csgo with comm servers, if you opt into the beta branch for cs2
