By Psychedelic Adventurer
*2033*
A lot of people have problems with small and constricted FOV in games. It can cause nausea headaches, sickness, etc.
This will fix that..

How to:
First of all, go to where you installed your copy of Metro 2033 Redux. It will usually be in: \Users\username\AppData\Local\4A Games\Metro 2033 Redux\user.cfg

WARNING: If you dont see this user.cfg, it's likely you attemped to go through your steam directory. This doesn't work. *Much appriciated Morbid for the heads up*

You can edit this file by using programs like Notepad++

Use Control + F to bring up the search function and look for "fov", this will get you to the code you need to edit quickly.

Since you’ll have to imput the horizontal and vertical FOV yourself, this calculator is a lot of help so you don’t mess up the your game.

Some members have said that doing this can slow down your game. I personally had no problem, but I am running a pretty beefy rig.

This can potentially slow your framerate down considerably
Until 4A release a official FOV fix, we'll have to settle with this.

Most shooters go past 100 fov, in fact its been in most games for the last decade.

Yeah i don't understand this and never have. So Metro like most shooters has a 60FOV but for some reason it gives people headaches on Metro? And not any other game? Never has me.

I randomly just gave this a try for the hell of it...
downloaded notepad++.... r_base_fov 65.

HOLY CRAP! Game runs better, looks better, plus the FOV boost.
Hahaha! You bloody legend!!! Thank you, kind Sir.

@babyboy you are most likely looking at the wrong file.

It MUST be user.cfg in this folder:

"%localappdata%\4A Games\Metro 2033"

This folder MAY be hidden, but thats a Microsoft thing. Look there how to "unhide".

I've read the in the original game exceeding 70 fov can cause performance issues. Is this still the case with Redux?

For the record I'm using the FOV setting of 65 with 3840x2160 on a 55 inch tv monitor and it looks very natural. No distortion or crampiness. No noticeable slowdown either on a good pc with 1080

Found a good substitute which Steam plays well with.
