============= Epilepsy warning =============

BoxesWithGuns is a 2D neon vertex endless shooter game. Try to survive as long as possible by avoiding collisions with the enemies that spawn. One game equals the length of the background music track playing. Collect dollars and customize your spaceship by adding new boxes and weapons. Upgrade existing weapons to increase your chances of survival. For temporary boosts, power ups spawn randomly.

Based on the current music playing in the background, the attached weapon systems get enabled or disabled. The blur and bloom effects and pixel destruction are influenced by the music as well.

  • 13 different weapons
  • 6 special weapon effects
  • 4 power ups
  • Self composed music/effects
  • Adjustable graphics (Blur, Bloom and pixel destruction)
  • Online highscore

Pre-Order already available on Desura for 3,99€

So, I got this in a bundle last year and it said I would get a Steam key when it released. Is this still true?

Voted yes. Love the fluidity and audiovisuals but I think it needs a bit of game design loving. Unless I'm missing a major mechanic somewhere. You go from very underpowered to way overpowered with the star pickup to the point where the gameplay becomes almost boring.

The build/upgrade UI is a bit fiddly and unintuitive with only some weapons having descriptions far away on the bottom of the screen and it is almost a requirement to use two input methods to work it. Also, speaking of controls, the feel with a x360 pad is very responsive and natural but needs a deadzone setting.

The songs are good but why is there such big variation in lengths? What is the goal? Is there a level progression?

All in all, the game in this state has a lot of flaws but is very promising. Here's hoping it evolves to something great.
