Settings - Recommended Specs
By Tastelezz
Settings I came up with, if your PC matches the recommended specs. Resulting in 60@1080 FPS 100% of the times modded or 95% of the times unmodded.

My Outdated Hardware
  • CPU - I7 8700k
  • GPU - Nvidia 1080 GTX - 8GB
  • RAM - 16GB GSkill
  • SSD - 1TB Samsung Evo
All the settings and configuration I recommend, after tinkering around for quiet some hours, relay on my hardware which kind of matches the recommendations for Remenant 2, which in my opinon is more like the minimum requirements.

Modding your game does not prevent you from getting achievements or play with other players online. The mods I recommend and use are only for improving the performance / FPS by preserving most of the visual experience.
In-Game Settings
Prefered Setting
  • Display Mode: Fullscreen
  • Motion Blur: Off
  • VSync: On
  • Framerate: 60
  • Upscaler: Intel XeSS
  • Upscaler Quality: Quality
  • Shadow Quality: Low
  • Post Processing: Low
  • Foliage Quality: Low
  • Effects Quality: Medium
  • View Distance Quality: Medium
  • FOV Modifier: 1
  • Minimize Input Latency: On

Potential Optimization
1. View Distance Quality: Medium -> Low
2. Effects Quality: Medium -> Low
3. Upscaler Quality: Quality -> Balanced
NVIDIA Setting
  • Anisotropic filtering: Off
  • Antialiasing - FXAA: Off
  • Antialiasing - Mode: Override any application settings
  • Antialiasing - Setting: x2
  • Max Frame Rate: 60 FPS
  • Texture filtering - Anisotropic sample opti..: Off
  • Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias: Allow
  • Triple buffering: On
  • Verticle sync: On
I figured out that matching the in-game FPS limiter with the NVIDIA Settings reduced the overall load on my GPU by a lot. Otherwise, if one of them was high than the other my GPU in terms of heat went up by more than 10 °C.
Windows 10
I don't know it it makes any differences at all, but I did the following:

  • Steam -> steamapps -> common -> Remnant2 -> Remnant2 - Binaries -> Win64
  • right-click Remnant2-Win64-Shipping.exe
  • Properties -> Compatibility -> Disable Fullscreen Optimization: checked
Nexus Mods - Optional
With the following two mods installed I do amazing regarding FPS performance and am able to play co-op with everyone.

Allow Asset Mod[www.nexusmods.com]
This mod is required to install the FPS performance mod. Just install it as described and move on.

With this mod activated the game runs butter-smooth. Make sure you have all the quality settings as I mentioned them before. Try and tweak them later on to give yourself a chance to experience what I do. I play it now this way and its is a blast.

My CPU and GPU now barely hit 60 °C or above. Most of the times they are at 50 - 55 °C while I experience 100% of the times 60@1080p FPS.
Without Nexus Mods - Results
Without having mods installed my CPU and GPU stay between 60 - 70 °C. In combat I have either no or very little drops in FPS.

I tried everything with setting my monitor to 100 FPS and hence the in-game and NVIDIA setting for FPS to 50. This way the game performs even better but 50 FPS is not really what you want if you may get 90 - 95% of the times 60 FPS.

Have fun.

Game is just not optimised. It rund well on very high end pc, but if you dont have best of the best you will have to lower settings a lot or it will lag. Its kinda sad that nowadays developers are lazy and dont optimise their games.

omg switching to Intel XeSS Upscaler actually made the game much more smoother, I get frame drops much less often, god damn.

I see a fellow 10 series user.
I got the MSI 1080 Ti Gaming X 11G

I use 1080p medium with XeSS balanced for 50-60fps most of the time.

It's ridiculously heavy to run.
I feel really bad for lower-end users out there, especially those with 8GB cards and less.

Ah understandable. Sorry, I saw that you had a 1080 and just had a brain cloud.

My MSI GTX 1080 does not support DLSS. I would for sure prefer DLSS over XeSS if I could
