Hello there! 👋
This is an unofficial fork of the inactive "Media Player" addon.
➡ Goal: Keep Media Player alive, stable, and working for everyone.

Supported services
➡ Out-of-the-box

    • WebM videos
    • Images (.jpg, .png, .gif)
    • Audio (.mp3, .wav, .ogg)

  • Twitch livestreams
  • URL Service for:
    • Video (.mp4, .mov, .mkv)

Quick Setup Guide
➡ Windows
Works out-of-the-box.
For more services (YouTube Live, TikTok, Twitch, etc.) → use GModPatchTool / GModCEFCodecFix.
Setup Video ➡ Windows (x86-64 BETA is optional)

➡ Others
Requires x86-64 BETA branch + GModPatchTool / GModCEFCodecFix.
Setup Videos ➡ MacOS, Linux or Proton

Notes
  • Local videos cannot be played directly → upload them online first.
  • Government restrictions or VPN use may cause videos to fail.
  • Not compatible with the original addon by Sam. Please uninstall it first.
  • "Lambda Players" is working, but we don't provide support.

YES "Media Player - Extended Props" WILL WORK WITH THIS ADDON.

Known Issues
  • Some videos show black/white screen (reason unknown).
  • Not all TikTok videos work.
  • YouTube may sometimes not play due to restrictions outside our control.

Since I am not primarily a Linux user, I cannot help you with this issue, but the friendly makers of GmodPatchTool one their Discord server will certainly be able to assist you.

how to install GModPatchTool with Proton? ...call me crazy, but i couldn't get x86_64 to run on Arch without Proton, and i think the game runs better like this anyway

First of all, friend requests will be ignored, and posting comments in multiple places won't make it any better.

Now to your problem: the problem is known, but I don't know the solution to fix it... (This is also mentioned in the description.


Possible solution
- Enter “mat_dxlevel 90” in the console
- Switch to x86-64 Beta Branch (see description)
- Update your graphics driver
- Disable all add-ons except Media Player (for testing)
- Use the GmodPatchTool/CEF Codec Fix (see description)

Hi, when I launch YouTube, I get a white screen, and it doesn't launch at all. Can you tell me how to fix this error? I've tried all the versions, but it doesn't work.

I cannot reproduce this error on either x86-64 bit Beta or the normal branch, regardless of whether GmodPatchTool is used or not.

This note is already included in the description, stating that not all YouTube videos are guaranteed to work, partly because embedding is prohibited by the video creator.

Unfortunately, I can no longer help with this, but I always try to test as much as possible whenever I have the time. Google Drive works for me, but I don't know why it works for you.

shadowsun, sorry for not responding but yes they are both public, one of them used to work even, not sure why it doesnt anymore, i do get a error saying "An unexpected error occurred. Please try again later." when accessing it in google drive
