Description
What happens when you do all the stuff you'd change in a map done in 2008 after 15 years...

NOTE: This is an experimental version.

It's a pretty good change, but I feel that Zone A is still difficult to attack

I respect the effort & making changes to such a classic.
But my God, what did you do to this map rofl. :fuuu:

It was from an era of its time, for people that enjoy when maps were choke-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like Junction, Hoodoo, Goldrush, Dustbowl & etc. :story:
It didn't need to be touched despite the ♥♥♥♥ these maps get, the people that love them ♥♥♥♥♥♥' adore them. :story:

Steel is already a good map. Without Fishbus, we would have no Steel. Fishbus is providing us the opportunity to help him with the creation of Greater Steel.

you are free to do as you wish, as i said it's your map. i agree there were things that needed fixing, like the sticky arching into blu spawn, but my point derives moreso from the fact that it's major alterations to what was already a classic, so far after the fact. personally i am looking forward to seeing where it goes, and wish more mappers (frontier, borneo to name just some random examples) would take the time to iron out flaws with their maps in the way you have. by naming the legacy of your map i am taking a jab at highlander, since it has been a staple there for well over a decade now.

Stuff that's in now (2023) was stuff I'd always wanted to do after a couple years. There was some sort of valve-ish embargo to not fix/update maps back then. They are more cool with it now (no idea now).

This is me just, faffing around with lots of what-ifs from the greater picture of the game/weapons evolving and general issues.

Disrespecting is a wild take tho.

i have 2 gripes with the updates, one of them being the removal of the little jump that allowed you to rotate from the lower part of C to the connecter from C to E. my other gripe, coincidentally enough, is to do with that same connector. you're clearly aware that the grating passes explosions through there, since you altered the texture of it to make it easier to see through. but this kind of splashable wall has no place in tf2. it does not create interesting gameplay. it in stead just means you die to stickies you can't see and to a demoman you cannot see either. i will say the same about similar grates on cachoeira and megaton (around the point). it simply makes for terrible gameplay. i understand it's your map and so you would want to edit it, and are thusly in your power to do so, but i also think that doing this 15 years after release (in stead of after, say 1-2 yrs, or less) you are actively disrespecting the legacy of your map.
that said there are some good changes here. the widening of some of the hallways for instance screams modernisation akin to how one might perceive applejack to be a more modern 2fort or megaton to be a more modern harvest

very interesting edits. I hope you continue to polish this.
I don't necessarily want this to replace current steel (and I don't think you do, either) but as an experiment in map design philosophy I like it a lot.

Steel is one of my favorite maps in the game and honestly a lot of the changes feel pretty good, both the ones that exist just for clarity and spacing and new paths. Not sure what exactly people are complaining about.

Just some feedback you should remove the "Prepare to attack the enemy's Control Points" and "Prepare to defend our Control Points" Administrator voicelines, since the Administrator already says "Mission begins in 60 seconds" and it sounds bad cause they play at the exact same time. Either way I'm really liking these updates to the map :)
