Craftable Gambesons

First mod ever!

This is a simple mod I made to address the lack of realistic medieval-style padded cloth armour in Skyrim, and as an alternative to the more shiny fantasy style light armours available in the later game. The vanilla 'Fine Clothes' was the closest item in the game to what I envisioned (I'm no 3d modeller or texture artist), so the armour uses that as the model. Apart from the odd clipping issue (which isn't my fault so don't bother asking), it works perfectly well.
The Gambesons in this mod are all fully craftable and upgradeable, and are available in variants from Novice to Master level for both genders and all races. I have tried to make this mod as balanced as possible, so if you're looking for God-items you are very much in the wrong place.
I have no idea how to intergrate items into the loot and NPC level lists, as awesome as that would be. My bad.

Other mods in the screenshots are:
Craftable Aketons (Also by me, available on the Workshop and Nexus)
Improved NPC Clothing - High Res (available on the Nexus)
aMidianBorn Book of Silence (available on the Nexus)
SkuUI (available on the Nexus)

Please do not upload this file elsewhere without my permission. Hell, why would you bother? This mod took about ten minutes to make with the creation kit (not including playtesting).

Version 1.0: Craftable and upgradeable Gambesons added to the game.

Thanks, but I honestly don't know how to code. The creation kit means I can make mods without having to know, so I don't think I can use source code. Thanks again, regardless. :)

hmm, maybe ill look into making a new armour subcategory, ill message you if i figure it out and send the source code

No, unfortunately. As cool as that would be, I don't know how to make that possible in a mod. :(

can you equip other armour ontop?
BorderWise  [author] Dec 26, 2014 @ 5:18pm
@Roose Bolton: Thank you! It's a rather specific bit of knowledge, but you'd think that it would occur to more people that metal armour directly on your skin would chafe like crazy. :D

i also applaud you for being the first guy who knew the importance of padded armors beneath every chain mail or plate armor. ive seen a lot of armor mods, but nearly all of them have the armor directly to the cloth or skin, no padding below.

@Roose Bolton: Yes indeedy they were, and I applaud you for noticing. When I was still testing this mod, Linen Wraps were part of the ingredients along with leather and leather strips. However, I've always found Linen Wraps are a pain in the arse to get hold of and I don't know how to integrate them into the merchant leveled lists (which would be the ideal solution). I like to think that since many other armours in Skyrim have inexplicable bits of cloth (Ebony, Steel Plate, Daedric to name just a few) I could get away with leather Gambesons. Maybe I'll do it over properly in a later mod, though.

werent gambesons made of Linen instead of leather?
