AGOT - Armies of Westeros

Description
AGOT: Armies of Westeros is a submod for A Game of Thrones mod.

Features
  • Replaces all the men at arms regiment pictures with new ones. (currently updating may take some time)
  • Adds 39 new regiments in total (so far). Some of them are cultural regiments, others are recruited in specific areas/castles. (slowly creating more units backend will add them in batches)
  • Adds two more regiments for House Targaryen: Dragon Hunters (an archer regiment) and Dragon Knights (a heavy cavalry regiment).
  • Adds two more regiments for House Stark: Knights of Winterfell (heavy cavalry regiment recruited by the owner of Winterfell Castle) and Guards of Winterfell (a heavy infantry regiment requiring ownership of Winterfell).
  • Adds one regiment for House Frey: The Twins Guards (heavy infantry requiring ownership of The Twins)
  • Adds one regiment for House Bolton: The Dreadfort Impalers (pike regiment requiring ownership of The Dreadfort)
  • Adds three new regiments for the Ironborn culture: Harbingers (archer regiment), Kracken Guard (pike regiment) and Wavebreakers (Outriders or medium cavalry regiment)
  • Rebalances some men at arms stats and numbers. (currently removed because AGOT updates, am currently working on new balance system)
  • Adds different terrain bonuses and penalties, and also seasonal bonuses and penalties for a more realistic approach of military matters. (included in the new balance system)
  • For titles needed to recruit some of the local/zonal/area specific regiments go to Crusader Kings III launcher, then go to the playset containing AoW sub-mod, click the [...] right of the mod's name, and then press the "show in folder" option. It will open a window of the mod's location. There, in mod's location, you can find a text file called Recruitment. Open it and you'll find the specific titles needed for some of the regiments. In the case of the AoW sub-mod you need one of those titles in order to recruit the specific regiment, not all of them. Just to be clear.

Things to note
  • AGOT+ has a rule that disables "non-cannon" cultures which can in a few cases make its seem like certain recruitable units are not present (not just units in this mod but other mods that add units tied to those cultures). You can turn this setting to "default" to see cultures like Upper-valeman and Honeywiners. Nearly all units in this mod should now be fine on both settings.
  • When I test this mods functionality I test it with the following load order: AGOT, AGOT Subcore, AGOT+, LoV, Bloodlines, AoW. This ensures compatibility and hopefully fixes bugs that come up in more varied scenarios.
  • When you have free units bugs please check which mod the unit comes from, some frequently bought up mods include AoW, AoW Remastered, Bloodlines. I try to keep AoW updated within a couple days of AGOT updates. I know the author of Bloodlines is also diligent in keeping Bloodlines updated.
  • (REGARDING AI USE) Because it seems to be a hot topic and will remain one I feel I should address it here, once all my current plans for this mod are done or at least well into progress and once the updates are pushed or are being pushed. There will be no AI art, or AI descriptions/flavour text. The art will be made by an artist who will be credited and permissions for said art will be for this mod alone. I will write the descriptions and flavour text myself based off of expanded lore, tv series and books, maybe take some inspiration from the tabletop game. However I do use AI to append data, and im going to continue to do so, it saves me enormous amounts of time to get a LLM to + or - some values across hundreds and maybe thousands of values in the files. No jobs were replaced and no RAM was harmed. Thanks. (There is currently no AI use in assets and that will remain true)

Future plans
  • Adding more regiments for each culture and maybe restructure the tradition system to make it more immersive. This includes some generic units for cultures and kingdoms, as well as specific units that require certain titles such as Lord of Winterfell etc...
  • Doing an Art Overhaul of added units and existing AGOT units included newly added AGOT units and future AGOT units.
  • Reworking the terrain bonus system allowing for multiple ways of improving and balancing units currently testing on heavy cavalry. Will take into account unit type, terrain type, culture, geographical location (training), and external factors (thematic).
  • To restructure A.I. recruitment for more diverse armies.

Compatible Mods

Compatibility and load order
X Achievement Compatible
✔ Ironman Compatible
✔ Existing Saved Game Compatible
  • Should be loaded after the AGOT mod.
  • Load Order: 1.AGOT, 2.AGOT Subcore 3.AGOT+ 4.Legacy of Valyria 5.Armies Of Westeros.
  • If you use AGOT: Canon Children and experience crashes, then load Armies of Westeros before Canon Children.
  • Should be compatible with any other mod that requires AGOT. The only exception are submods that alter the men at arms files, but it depends on the way it's done. So it should be compatible with almost everything, as long as AGOT is compatible with it.
  • If you encounter any problems or crashes please do this:
    1. Go to the launcher, the to the playlist the mod is part of, and there you will see three suspension points, right of the mod's name. Click the "show in folder" option. This will open a window with the mod files in the Steam folder where they have been downloaded.
    2. Disable the mod from the playlist.
    3. Unsubscribe from the AoW mod via the Steam Workshop.
    4. If there are any files left in the Steam mod folder, delete those.
    5. Resubscribe to the mod via Steam.
    6. Enable the mod in the playlist.
    7. Play the game. Hopefully your problems are now gone.
  • If there has been a CK3 or AGOT Base Mod update recently most likely saves are bricked.

Thanks for the work! This mod really adds a lot
May 6 @ 6:39am
will be working on getting the new update out asap. then after that will be finishing the terrain/bonus rework that was tested on heavy cav to all units. hopefully the balance will be in at least an acceptable state, i will tweak it based on feedback i just dont want to release something where a few units are completely busted, i dont mind things being too weak or strong just not the extremes.
