I tested it with just rimfridge and no other mods to be sure, and sure enough, no frosty beer!

Resolved path returned no nodes, request: ((93, 0, 157) -> Thing_PsychiteTea411395 @ (82, 0, 157), OnCell, for Ferrell)
the fridge was able to be accessed, caused all my pawns to stand around while trying to due recreation, moving tea to storage fixed it :)
Turns out the 3 slot function this RimFridge variant mod introduces conflicts with and partially overrides LWM's Deep Storage which both sets it higher and allows you to set the number per cell you want to.
I set mine to 20 stacks per cell for 40 total for the freezer, because I don't want half my map to be dedicated to storage, so whatever the pawn was checking was telling him it's ok to put it in there and also that he couldn't.
I stuck "RimFridge Updated [1.6]" on instead and the problem disappeared.
If you're not using LWM or similar then I'm sure this mods exactly what you need and there's no issue at all, but it was a **** to figure out with 180+ mods so figured I'd hopefully save even one persons sanity by mentioning it here :)
