Description
UPDATE 8/9/14: Scroll to the bottom of the text for an update on what's next. Lore has also been updated! Also note the MTI shipyards were intended to not have visible processing lines like the Proxima Shipyard. This is for lore purposes that will be alluded to in either the next update or the one after.

A star system designed for multi-player adventures and RP.

It was designed with realism (at least in terms of what might be realistic when space settling becomes possible) in mind, and as such it contains:

- A mining and construction corporation with lobby, operations viewing window and mining vessels
- A food distribution hub with delivery ships
- A greenhouse station with eight biodomes for food growth
- Four residential stations with twenty rooms each, most with civilian ships docked
- A station in construction, with construction ships working on the framework
- A Police Station of peculiar design that has the system abuzz with gossip
- Proxima Transport Shipyard, with new Proxima ships
- Mass Transportation Incorporated Shipyard, with a new MTI ship on display
- Exploration objects: Locate Pirate Outpost Alpha for your own storage base and pirate ship, or search for the alien Diifera Insertion Ship for heavy firepower!

As you can see, the system would be quite heavy on your PC performance. There's at least 2,000 lights to render, plus the blocks, per 'star' system, so some system lag may be present. It also may take quite a while for server users to load because of the amount of content to download. The plan is to have as many systems as the game can handle up to a max of 5 (simply because I'm working on this alone).

Ship classifications:

- The smallest cargo ships, located in the Biodomes, are classified as 'Duckling' class. This is because of their unintentional appearance. It is believed intoxicated Interns from the Omega Shipyards were responsible, but no public statement has been made. Regardless of their comical appearance, their sales were enough to warrant continued production and solidified their placing in creating working class ships.

- Slightly larger cargo ships located in the Food Distribution station (within the container zones) are classified as 'Duck' class. Named because they're the successor to the popular Duckling class. Despite Omega Shipyards not liking the design of the predecessor, intoxicated designers went ahead with a larger version and were subsequently fired from the shipyard, but unfortunately not before production started. Surprisingly, they sold well, so the shipyards didn't end up in too much strife. Still, I don't think the designers will found work outside interstellar nurseries aquatic sections now.

- The delivery ships in the Food Distribution are classified 'Condor' class. They have enough thrust and power to make routine deliveries, but may drain too much power for complex manoeuvres, such as barrel rolls and evasive manoeuvres.

- The smallest white and blue civilian ships are classified 'Runner' class, created by Mass Transportation Incorporated (MTI). Small but zippy, they're the basic ship for all your needs. Cheap and power efficient. What more could the masses want?

- The small, red ships are classified 'Boxer' class. These ships are a competitor to the 'Runner' class, created by 'Proxima Transport' to appeal to sporty, youthful citizens. Though less power efficient, their design has seen the model sell quite well.

- To compete with MTI's Dagger, Proxima Shipyards created the maroon-coloured 'Stream' class ship. Similar in shape to MTI's Dagger but with more edge and slightly better speed and efficiency, Proxima Shipyards are clearly hoping to gain a more varied demographic than their usual, impressionable youth focus.

- MTI Codename: Daybreak - Amazingly, MTI have manag_@#e*#$7&power, &#558_!military*((!@&%%%% FILE RECORD CORRUPTED%%%%%

- The larger variant to the 'Runner' class is the 'Dagger' class. This was MTI's sportier upgrade and competitor to Proxima's 'Boxer' class. It sells well, but is priced higher than the 'Boxer' due to 'superior handling and design components, as well as status for impressionable youth who want to make their mark'.

- The wing-shaped white and black ship is an 'Icarus' class civilian ship, created from military prototype fighters by Aerospace Defence Contractors (ADC). Due to popular demand over the design and construction standards, a civilian model was produced to a limited production amount each year. Priced higher than other civilian ships, they aren't seen often in outlying systems unless flown by corporate CEOs and other white collar members of society.

- The black, vertical wing-shaped ships with red and blue lighting are the Police - Small Fighters. Their class designation is Classified under Governmental Development Edict #176, wherein any information pertaining to Government property that has potential to infringe upon the protection of Government members, staff and allies, is restricted except for such members, staff and allies.

- The favoured raiding ship of the Pirates is designated the 'Asp', as the shape somewhat resembles that of the neck of a viper. Why it wasn't named Viper is unknown, but apparently pirates aren't well-versed in their study of Reptiles. No matter. The 'Asp' is lightly-armed but is quite fast, with slightly more acceleration than the police fighters, but is countered by the fact that the 'Asp' is a modified and retrofitted Independent Mining Consortium (IMC) mining vessel, and as such lacks enough power to perform complex manoeuvres. Regardless, having several wings of these flying at you is not fun.

- Diifera Insertion Sh~ %DELETED FROM PUBLIC RECORDS BY S^C_1138_C-RD%

The custom background I'm using is Mars - Orbit from skybox.xaelan.com. Here's a link if you're wanting to use the same - http://skybox.xaelan.com/index.php?page=view&id=26

Hope you enjoy!

Lore:

Police Station: The Ren District, apart from being home to two of the largest shipyards and corporations in the sector, has an unusual landmark in the form of the Police Station. Radically different to commonplace stations, as it is almost entirely cylindrical, it has been the source of rumour and speculation for the five years since it was built. From it's apparently instantaneous construction (Rumour only, I assure you - Editor), appearance that could suggest it is instead a massive carrier (Again, this is only a rumour, truly - Editor), and immediate departure of vessels upon 'appearing' in local space (What station doesn't allow ships to launch, though? - Editor), the Police Station is in the center of local gossip topics. The most common rumour, based around the aforementioned factors, is that it is of alien construction, or has at least been integrated with alien technology (You shouldn't be prying any deeper than this, Writer#714, you know what happened to our last Writer... - Editor).

Next update:

Hey, all! Next update will be for the Sicaea District. Hopefully it'll make a cool battleground!

You should use some of the "stars" from the workshop to base your systems off of, and use those as markers for different systems

i have an idea so people with bad computers can still play this: what if you split the "star systems" into individual worlds and post them.

Weren't you going to upload a newer one a while ago?

Hi all, I'll make a copy of the mod with less lights and reupload as a separate mod, so people with memory-related issues can still use the world file, :). It'll be up the US Monday after Halloween.

I would recommend removing most lights, especially those big spotlights, those cause the most lag and if you do, people might actually be able to use this. :D

Kind of got it to load, but when I enter the world, I'm stuck at a picture of the default asteriod background and can't move. When I press the move keys, you can hear the running sound and pressing escape plays the menu sound and turnong on/off the jetpack plays that sound, but the picture stays the same and the only way to exit the game is to manually turn off the computer.

Always wanted something like this, thanks!

Hi again, everyone, time for another update! Finished the Ren District with the Police Station, two Shipyards, and some exploration elements for you to find (some of which is part of the lore and may shape things to come). The add-on description has changed to include lore for the new ships. See the Change Notes (the second last one; I had to fix the thumbnail again...) for more details.
