Fabric Passages (WIP)

Description
Cheap, lumpy, lighted, what more could you ask for?

Work in progress. See change notes for full update.

Notes:
- All block recipes require canvas, meaning a Basic Assembler at a minimum will be required to fully weld these
- These blocks will seal off a room, as long as the last block is placed against the opening.
i.e. If you are adding a passage from one building to another (which I assume is your purpose), the last block must be placed against the facing building, instead of the rest of the passages, for this to work correctly.

P.S. I'm new to both modding and modeling, so I'm not sure how long this will take me to complete.

In Progress:
  • Optimize meshes
  • Touch up remaining T-shaped block wiring
  • Add some wrinkles to L-shaped blocks

To-do:
  • Add Build Stages
  • Fix weird light direction
  • L-shaped blocks
  • Redo metal framing and cabling for straight passages
  • T-shaped blocks
  • Touch up geometry
  • T-shaped block variants (left-to-left, left-to-right, etc.)
  • Add X block - Added a one-size-fits-all wiring scheme for this block
  • Add a vertical block?
  • Fix weird airtightness
  • Add LOD's
  • Show in terminal
  • Add an end block to terminate the cable connection
  • Improve Build Stages for L-shaped blocks
  • Look into block extension
  • Add custom build stages for new blocks

Thanks:
enenra for creating SEUT
fuzzimo.com for the canvas texture

Something like fabric panels could be used to build larger structures, similar to armor panels. Really, I just want to be able to make a HAB like in the martian.

Have you considered hinge and/or rotor passages?
I tried using the L-shaped fabric passage blocks that are available to make a crude 'elbow' hinge passage but the collision tolerances caused the two grids to have A Bad Time.

this could be used to make extending pressurized docking ports

This looks like a fun mod. Could make for some interesting builds!

@shumbalion Thanks, nice catch. I hadn't even noticed that, as I already had the blocks in my hotbar, so I wasn't looking for them. I just fixed these.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'm going to have to remake these, as I took a look back at them over the weekend and realized that they are just really poorly made, and it makes it hard to make any edits to them without clipping everywhere, etc. I have a process in mind that I think is going to make it much easier to churn out new blocks, if it works the way I think it will.

Small typo in your icon path in BlockCategories ;)
<icon>Textures\Icons\FabricPassageExtension.dds</Icon>
should be
<Icon>Textures\GUI\Icons\FabricPassageExtension.dds</Icon>
Thus why I wasn’t seeing the graphics :)

+1 for small grid :D These are super sweet, and all the more impressive when you have them in game! Its great to have blocks that step away from the rigid structures SE is dominated by. As for "Add a vertical block" in your todo list, id love to see a 1x2 or even 1x3 slope. Keep up the good work! Now to download this 20 times until steam manages to send the missing icon file lol.

Go home, Mike. You're drunk.

Can you make them flammable?

.. asking for a friend.

Thank you very much for saying so. I've made a few more mods for my personal use since this one, and once this project at work goes live, I'm planning on revisiting this mod with some more experience and knocking out some of these items on the to-do list.
