KNOWN ISSUE: objects set to "Local only" in the editor are still in wrong positions in multiplayer. Will be sorted soon hopefully.

  • Edit terrain's heightmap in 3DEN editor.
  • Raise, lower, smooth or flatten the ground.
  • Works on any map.
  • edited terrain features are saved in the mission file.
  • SP and MP compatible. In multiplayer, only the server needs to have the mod.

How to use:
  • Press SHIFT+Y in the editor to open the Deformer toolbar. (Also found in the tools menu)
  • Please read the in-game help linked on the toolbar for relevant keybinds and other important information.
  • Save the mission before playtesting it!

Converting static terrain objects requires that they are available in 3den as placeable props. You might need additional mods to gain access to them. One such mod for vanilla maps can be found here: Any other similar mod should be compatible with Deformer.

Possible features in the future:
  • performance optimization
  • make missions standalone so they can be played without the mod
  • More deformation tools.
  • Export as SQF and other formats.
  • copy & paste terrain features

NOTE: This mod is in alpha stage, and might break at any time. I can't guarantee that everything you make with it will work in future versions.

hi, pls may I know, are the local only objects only bugged in MP if they're ontop of the deformed terrain?
McKopatich Oct 3 @ 8:22am
it would be great if you could make the trenches smaller and square

Any ideas why signatures can be broken? Im using default bikeys from sources without reupload etc.

Well that's weird, no idea why that would happen. I tried reproducing it with various combination of mods and keys on a dedicated server without success. :(

The signature check problem occurs on absolutely any mod, but not on Deformer, this is a paradox, but the error occurs only after enabling this mod
Sams  [author] Oct 1 @ 11:30am
Double check that you have Deformer only in the -servermod. Or if it's in regular mods, the server is using the latest version and the bikey file in keys is the correct one.

Sams, sup, i not sure, but if im editing map via deformer and starts it on server with server-side mod only my server start kick every player with signature check error. Any ideas why?

Has anyone had any issues with zeus on any mission where the terrain has been deformed? After modifying one of my test missions, while going into zeus during play testing; I was unable to edit any units as the edit dialog would no longer show. It still would not work after I deleted all the terrain deformations; but it did as soon as I replaced the mission with an earlier backup.

@Andee. The limit is the amount of characters Arma can store in one mission variable. The exact amount of edits this correlates to varies depending on the map and how the edits are placed on the map. The mod will notify when you go above 85% of the maximum. The current version compresses this data, so it supports about 6x more edits than the previous build, which also just broke when the limit was reached.

"Removing useless edits" refers to areas you've deformed but don't want to keep in the mission. Highlighting just shows all edited areas so you can remove/reset them with the eraser tool.

I'm really sorry the mod fails to load your edits, that isn't supposed to happen obviously, even if the mod is still in alpha phase.
The good thing is that they are still in the mission file, so I suggest you at least backup the SQM mission file, and if you want, you could send it to me so I can take a look. You can PM it to me or upload the file somewhere and drop a link here.

From changelog:
"Mission file is smaller and supports more edits"
- What exactly are the limits?
"Highlight edited areas. Handy for removing useless edits to save performance."
- How can I remove those useless edits?
Four days' edits are now gone because it gives the original map when open it in editor or in mission.
Over 2Mt mission file, over 36k deformed height points.
