Official Stunlock variable descriptions
Please see Stunlock's official description on the modifiers and variables! Make sure to check and see if the variable you're looking for actually works or if it's a work-in-progress.

Finding and editing the primary variables (Short list)

As of 5/17/2022 , there is no built in server editing UI.

If you'd like to edit variables (Like clan size, Game mode and day duration to name a few), you need to do so in the primary short list!

Even though the primary variables have some in the secondary variables, it seems the Primary overwrites the secondary.

Example, if you try to change clan size in the secondary list it will not work as it gets overwritten via the primary list.

  • Head to location \AppData\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRising\Saves\v1\<insert numbers here>
  • Open ServerGameSettings with notepad or Notepad + +
  • Change amount of clan size.
  • Enjoy your edited server settings.

If you have multiple saves, try to guess which is which as the numbers are generated randomly. You could always identify as seeing which was created more recent.

Finding and editing the secondary variables (Long List)
This list is for everything that the primary doesn't overwrite!

Example, if you want to increase the limit on how many borders/floors you can put down per Blood Heart level, how much a stacked item can go up to (Using percentages) or how fast a servant is converted. This is your list

  • Navigate to Steam\steamapps\common\VRising\VRising_Server\VRisingServer_Data\StreamingAssets\Settings
  • Edit the ServerGameSettings.json with Notepad, preferably Notepad ++.
  • Make sure no one is in the server (including yourself) and save the edited ServerGameSettings.
  • Enjoy your edited server settings.

Still not working? Try these solutions:
This section will be updated whenever someone brings workarounds to me, or if I find a problem and solve it myself. Please feel free to write them in the comments or in the guide in the VRising discord's #tutorial section.

ServerGameSettings not updating (Potentially a fix for Dedicated servers)

Originally posted by Sc0repn:
In the HostServerSettings.json, if you have [GameSettingsPreset] set to something, it overwrites your custom ServerGameSettings.json file.
So, just leave it set to "" and your file will work.

Thank you to Sc0repn from the discord.

Found tricks to get modified variables to work:
  • Changing resource yield values does not take effect until resources have respawned once (You need to harvest them once and the new ones that spawn will have the modified values)

  • Changing gathering resource power modified will only affect newly crafted weapons/gear

I still find that even this ini file is confusing. Before it was waaay better.
Most things still missing.

Still using the v1 directory, this is a little bit outdated as we're currently on v2 as of Gloomrot.

Super helpful, thanks! That teleport setting is what I was after.

@Serverus, to be clear; you must DISABLE the option to allow teleporting. Its wording is backwards.

@serverus it worked for me, I just hosted a new game with all the settings I needed and then replaced the old save file config with the new file and that's about it :)

Tried the enable teleportation with mats, it does not seem to work even after the change.

I found the solution to skip 24 hours of servant's hunt - you have to open the console and type "adminauth" command, then type "addtime 12" multiple times (this command skips 12 hours of ingame time which are equal to 9 minutes of real time and it affects servant's hunt). Enjoy yourselves.

Stunlock has released an official description list of all the variables.

Even shows everything that doesn't work.

There are multiple settings that don't seem to work after a server has already been made. Only Stunlock knows how to get those to work until we figure it out.
Most things were solved by "Remake the items" but you can't delete a vampire on a server... so these just maybe won't work until you make a new save completely anyway.

@Sigma There seems to be no modifier for servant's hunting or anything besides how long it takes for them to convert.
