Welcome to Blades of Ascension! The project was originally entitled Sword Art Online but due to copyrights and licensing fees we have decided to rename the project and develop a spiritual successor to our original project. Blades of Ascension is an MMO experience like no other, it will feature heavy elements inspired by the anime Sword Art Online, an extensive ranking system for players and guilds alike and more. We are currently an early concept, we have a small playable demo client available for free download on however it has little to nothing that will be featured in the final game.

Right now we have some early concept art created by our Lead Concept Artist, Cedric Charles. Our plan is to periodically release more concept art, videos, demos and so on throughout our development cycle. A release date is not currently planned but we have a minimum of 2 years development time before we are even close to a public release so please keep that in mind if you decide to apply to join our team.

Some Planned Features

• Questing • Crafting • Smithing • Cooking • Fishing • Swimming
• Boating • Hunting • Farming • Sleeping • Shopkeeping
• Marriage • Same Sex Marriage • Archery
• Swordplay • Exploration• Free Roaming • Guilds
• Solo'ing • Player Killing • Bounty Hunting
• Mounts • Player Housing • Buy/Sell/Trading • Dungeons
• Boss Battles • Massive Landscapes • Dynamic Holidays
• Dynamic Weather • 100 Different Floors • Full VR Support
• First person • Third Person• Grinding • No Magic

So in conclusion, we are developing an MMORPG heavily inspired by Sword Art Online that will feature many familiar features and elements. Our project is in an early concept phase of development and we have a minimum of 2 years development time left. Feel free to contact us by email, send us your application, questions and so on or comment and leave feedback for us down below.

NOTE: I am no longer involved with this project in anyway, shape or form.
I may periodically update this page with new information but the official website is a much better source.

Note: Some images have been compressed in order to abide by the 2MB limit that Steam has in place for artwork uploads. This is an early-concept, nothing is guarenteed to be finished or released. All of our concept art, images and videos are all subject to change/improvement. This project has a heafty development cycle planned, with no estimated release date.

I have no love for the MMO genre of games, but I'm definitely in love with the concept art. Some seriously beautiful works there on some seriously large scale environments. Deffinitely inspiring.

Due to some serious engine limitations with Unity 4, we have decided to put Blades of Ascension on an indefinite hiatus. Currently we are going to take a break and wait for the release of Unity 5. The current version of the Unity engine was not built to handle MMO's however with the genre on the rise Unity has heavily worked on adding new MMO features into the next engine update so we will all have to stay tuned and see where the future will take us.

Oh look, another MMO. Oh wait, it has a hook that completely sets it apart from every other MMO despite being 99% similar. *yawn* No thanks.

First person MMO would be absolutely amazing! All other MMO's are all in 3'rd person.. But anyway keep up that fantastic work!

We are not entirely sure, VR support would obviously have to be in first person but for non VR players I think that third person would be a nice feature, that and it really shows off the hard work that our Designers and 3D Modellers put into their stuff.
