"Boost" a character.
I assume you started campaign, I recommend boost character to start gearing up for End Game. Now you can choose finish campaign (recommended) or go for End Game content.

"Boosting" a character will make your character lv 50, enabling End Game content. All enemies scale to your lv (normal difficulty). In this way you start gearing up for End Game.

You can save some time in this way. Since you start getting Ascension Levels (like Prestige in Diablo 3, it gives you additional stats). Complete Quest and unlocking early 2 Valorplates. Also start getting Achievements early.

Some game mechanics are confusing at start, but you will get used very fast. Since doing quest will tell when you doing "requirements" right.

Open Menu > Select Character.

Now select "Boost Character".

Now you can play End Game modes.

  • Dont worry about gear. You get a full set lv 50 gear.

You can continue playing Campaing. Enemy scale to your lv.

Or you can play End Game content directly.

Any recommended builds for a new lvl 50 char?

@LOC I see there is confuse in that part. I will change it, I mean "I assume you started campaign, I recommend boost character to start gearing up for End Game", but people can choose finish campaign (recommended) or go for End Game content.

I think game doesnt explain some mechanics anyway, so if you start at lv 50, you are saving time. Since you start gaining Ascent levels. It wont make game easier or harder in normal difficult. You just can start doing Achievements faster this way.

@TotemMX I'm just saying if your a new player and go into the game and just make a new lvl 50 straight away, there's a lot to take in. You said in the guide you assumed people have played the campaign, the stuff would (mostly) be explained there and when you hit endgame. For new players, it's all at once etc.

@LOC like what stuff? Im not having problems so far.

You can also just create a lvl 50 endgame character straight up in case people reading this didn't understand. Just be prepared to be overwhelmed by some of the stuff thrown at you if you go straight into a lvl 50 guy.

@=Sunny= I see no cons.

Enemy scale with you, Loot scales, you start gaining "Ascent" points (Prestige like in Diablo 3). You get points to unlock another Class and pretty much everything you get will help you to complete End Game content.

just curious, is there a reason Not to boost a character?
