PhysX fix for Linux

This is a simple guide to install PhysX software onto Proton so the game can run.

Main

Make sure to run the game at least once before following this guide.

1. First, download physx from https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/physx/9_10_0513/physx-9-10-0513-driver/
   (NOTE: Other versions may work as well)
   
   
2. In steam, right click the game, go to Manage -> Browse local files
   
   
3. Rename bcr.exe to something else (I added an undescore to the name)
   
   
4. Paste the downloaded physx installer to this folder and rename it bcr.exe
   
   
5. Launch the game through steam, this time the installer will run.
   
   
6. After it finishes, restore the original game executable.

Profit!


NOTE 2: This should work on the steam deck as well, you need to execute all the steps in desktop mode steam

Thank you very much: this indeed does works on steam deck. In fact, BCR will not work on my PC Windows 10 machine no matter steps I take, but it does works on Steam Deck via Proton 9.0-2 if steps in this guide are taken.

I don’t see bcr.exe anywhere. Should it be in the game directory or somewhere in the steam system files?

I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to install physx with protontricks, but then I found this guide that made the installation WAY easier. Thank you!
