Separate Sprint and Dodge for Controller
By Mord
ALL CONTROLLERS WELCOME
Have you ever wanted separated Sprint and Dodge buttons? The desire to use (LS Click) for sprint instead, as well as dodging upon PRESSING circle? Maybe Sprint and adjust the camera more comfortably? Look no further! I've created controller configurations for both PS4 and PS5 controllers for such a function. I didn't see anybody else create something like this so I thought I would do it myself. :p

Controller Configuration
This uses the built-in Steam controller configuration settings so it's really easy to apply to your own profile. Just make sure dodge/sprint and crouch are the default settings for your controller inside the elden ring settings first.

Circle: Dodges upon pressing (you won't sprint with this)
LS Click: Toggle sprint (turns off when attacking or pressing square, circle, or LS again)
LS Double Click: Toggle Crouch

All the other keybinds are untouched!
Installation
Don't think that it really matters which profile you use but I made one using PS4 and PS5 controllers just in case. Pretty sure these can be used for XBOX and other controllers as well. AGAIN, make sure you have the default keybinds for dodge/sprint and crouch in your elden ring settings for your controller first.

UPDATE V3: (Dodging from a sprint now dodges upon pressing as well)
PS4: steam://controllerconfig/1245620/2796354815
PS5: steam://controllerconfig/1245620/2796349595

UPDATE V2: (Fixed issue of not dodging from a sprint)
CONFIG V1

Just copy and paste one of the links into chrome, and it should open up the config in steam.
Then apply it to your controller and play!
Questions?
Comment below if you have any questions, concerns, or if you find an issue but this config has worked wonders for me!

Either of the PS links should still work with Xbox controllers. It should be relatively plug-n-play
PS4 for Xbox360 and PS5 for XboxOne

I couldn't make configs for Xbox controllers specifically since I don't have those controllers, but you should be able to apply those configs onto your controller settings regardless if you use Xbox I think.

I'm a little confused.. You mention XBOX controllers but there are only two links provided: PS4, PS5

I believe so, whatever I set those buttons functions as, you would just switch them. So essentially, if I remember right, L1 should be changed to function as a instant press and release of Circle, regardless if L1 is held or not. And Circle would be set to L1 like normal.

this is super cool,i use L1 to roll,and i'm trying bind it to that button,but when i go in game the profile get resetted.is it possible to swap those two input?

Stop skirting the issue you fanbois - the original design choice is idiotic, heck you can't even move the camera while moving unless you use claw grip

this guy is fixing the dumb developers incompetence

@spsoon
I know it's frustrating, I wish I could fix it but it's how the Devs designed the button mapping for the game. So I can't do anything else without mods or something like that.

@marco
Chrome has always worked previously, but if nothing else you could try pasting the link in the steam client while in the in-game overlay?

Thanks so much for this, what a lifesaver! The only quirk I've noticed is that if you LS click while standing still it causes a backstep. I've fallen off a number of cliffs this way, haha. I've fiddled around in the profile but can't figure out how to change this.

hey so copied and pasted and didnt open anything as of yet i tried different browsers and with the game open and closed. any help or suggestions?

@GOJIRA
Np! and yeah there's nothing I can do about that, it's how the Devs designed Elden Ring, so without actual mods I can't change it.
