On The Edge

Description
UPDATE: Added Part 1 of the map which ends at the town hall objective.

DESCRIPTION:
This is my map entry into the Torn Banner Fortification Map Contest.
It is currently in final stages of BETA testing.
The map is designed for at least 12 players, however recommended 18+

STORY:
Under the order of Lord Malric, a small mason army led by just one dark, and deadly captain - Captain Grodath
is pushing south, towards the shores of Irilla, to push Agatha from the now Mason occupied lands.

There is just one village, and one small coastal fort left to purge the Agathians from, in order for the Masons to
fully secure the lands of Irilla.
The Masons do not wish to keep the village in-tact, they wish capture the coastal fort nearby.
But to help them do so, the Mason army wish to strike fear into those holding the coastal fortress, to help them in their assault.
Mason will do this by burning everything in the village and slaughtering all of it's inhabitants that remain.
It is also known to the Masons that Agathian spies reside in this Village, 5 of them to be exact, known as the 5 Knives.
Lord Malric wants these men dead, as they have disrupted the Mason's advance for too long.

Fortunately for the Agathians, 2 Agathian loyalist captains, by the names of Madora, and Mallus Sorden, reside in the area, along with their small armies.
Captain Madora resides within the village, looking over it's people, while the people look after the soldiers.
Captain Mallus's army resides inside of the coastal fortress and has just arrived at the village docks with his soldiers to help his brother with defending the village.
These captains are two well known and respected brothers who fought alongside King Argon in the attempted assault on Tenosia.

The brothers will not abandon one another no matter the circumstances, even if it means doing something dangerous. Feydrid knows
that by simply having these 2 brothers in one force, that the army would be able to defeat almost any opposing forces, but Feydrid cannot
predict the assault would happen so soon, and the both captains are caught unprepared.
Lord Malric believes that if both brothers join in battle, it could be dangerous to the Masons in their assault, so the Masons had best be hastey in it's assault.

Your actions on the battlefield will determine the outcome of this important battle. If the Masons fail in their assault, Lord Malric will
lose not only a very powerful and disciplined army and it's captain, but it could also result in a potentially dangerous situation for
Mason forces residing in Irillan towns, villages and forts, as most of the Mason forces are fighting elsewhere, in places such as Vantear.

If Agatha fall, it is a crushing blow to the Agathian forces, two of Agatha's best captains will be lost or captured, along with 2 of Agatha's armies.
That is something that Feydrid cannot afford.

OBJECTIVES:
1. Move the Battering Ram along the cliff edge. And at the gates of the village.
2. Ram down the gates.
3. Assault the upper village area, burning houses, killing peasants and the Agathian soldiers.
4. Destroy an entrance to the town center.
5. Eliminate Captain Madora at the town hall, or capture the town hall.
6. Continue through to the other side of the village, break into the houses, find the 5 Mason traitors and kill them!
7. Push log cart through docks to the dockside entrance to close off the village.
8. Capture 2 of the warehouses at the docks
9. Kill Captain Mallus so that his soldiers will surrender.

MAP FEATURES:
* HUGE MAP SIZE, HUGE OBJECTIVE LIST, HUGE FUN
- The map is big, real big. Not only that, but it's packed with objectives. I was tired of playing maps that were 2km long, with 3 objectives that are boring
and uninteresting, where you have to run a marathon just to get to the objective, then you die, it is frustrating, and players don't want frustrating.
On The Edge contains a whole bunch of objectives to keep players entertained. spawn points are dynamically moved around as well,
to avoid players having to run long distances.
* TIGHT, BRUTAL, MEDIEVAL WARFARE!
- I love the idea of maps that look like massive sieges, and when I see a big open field at the gates, with a few barriers, siege equipment everywhere,
smoke coming out of random holes in the ground like that is this chaotic huge battle. However, while the idea is cool, there are only 16 people
assaulting 20m high walls with siege equipment everywhere. It feels like a small warband just one day decided to assault a huge city, and only a few of
city guards are defending it.
If chivalry supported 200 players, i'm all for those maps, but what I crave in chivalry, is tightly knit combat, that is full on, makes you sweat, and is not so
spread out and empty feeling.
- On The Edge is split into sections. These sections are generally open, but in tight spaces, and in between each of these sections is a bottleneck that generally
only lasts for a few seconds, but makes the combat feel insane. It makes 16 players feel like much more.
* RAM OBJECTIVE:
- The more players surrounding the ram, the faster it will travel.
- Ram has acceleration and deceleration, rather than just stopping as soon as players are not near it.
Ram can also accelerate into charge mode, damaging those in the ram's path.
- Ram can slam into the door rather than just roll into place if the ram is in charge mode. This makes the ramming take less time.
- Agathians can brace the main gates against the ram, which makes the ramming take more time.
* HUNT THE TRAITORS:
- Randomly placed NPC's inside of the lower village area make gameplay different every time you play.
- Players must break down house doors and hunt for the traitors which makes for some interesting gameplay, and breaks up monotony, as players
don't have to just fight, but can be sneaky, to try and find the right houses.
Also, Agathians will have to spread out and make sure that the 5 knives are protected.
* CAPTAINS, NOT KINGS
- Something annoying in every map I have played is that every map, there seems to be kings, and while it's cool, King's are not suitable in this map.
So I have scripted in Captains instead, which can be any class (at this stage/needs testing and feedback). And is not restricted to the highest scoring player.
However when I figure out how to do it using just Kismet, only the highest scoring player will be rewarded with being able to play as Captains.

CURRENT STATUS:
This is a BETA version, this means that all of the main features are complete, however, still contains bugs and other problems.
The level is not yet fully detailed, and gameplay changes may be made in order to balance the map out better.
This is not the final version of the map, however is very near to.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?
Your feedback is very important to me personally to other players, and potentially to Chivalry: Medieval Warfare itself, if this map wins in the mapping contest
and becomes an Official map, so please feel free to leave some constructive criticism and I will do my best to make this into the most enjoyable experience
that I can possibly make it :)

Please subscribe and download the map, and more importantly, ENJOY :)

Also if you like the map, please rate it. The more attention the map gets, the more feedback I receive, and the more feedback I receive, the better I can make the map :)

Much appreciated :)
I'll hopefully have a demo out towards the end of the year, but I make no promises on that, so much work to get done.

Hey guys, I just wanted to share a game that I have been creating called Metal Heads, it's an 8 player local or online party game where you compete with others in a bunch of mini-games.
If you're interested, check it out below.
If not, that is totally OK too.

I've played this on speedfish chiv server no much planning went into the design of the wooden fort. And to fix it or upgrade it would take about 2 months.

P1 is the short version of the map (Part1) and beta is the full length version.
I am still unsure if the battering ram works. If not, unfortunately the map is dead :(
