Description

Current version: 1.0
Please refer to the changelog for patch notes.

This mod changes the skybox to one ideally suited for creative building. It features a dark grey background with grid lines and axi labels in their corresponding colors, giving the appearance of a modelling application such as Blender.

AQD - A Quantum of Depth is a project of mine, encompassing multiple small and larger mods aimed at improving the gameplay experience and eventually overhauling larger parts of the game:

New Skybox
This skybox features a grid as a background, with axi denoted by label and color. The mod by SISK which is listed as a dependency is loaded automatically and will remove the sun sprite, as it has been replaced entirely by stronger ambient light. Together with the dark grey background color, this makes the skybox very comfortable to look at for extended periods of time.

  • The skybox does not work on / near planets as this mod replaces the sun with ambient light. On planets / in their vicinity, this ambient light is disabled in favour of separate planet-based settings. However, there is no ambient light equivalent on planets. The result is total darkness.

No same thing happened to me, which is why I am here to see if it was a known issue. Basically just showed a blank screen, but I could hear myself moving around and had Block screens on my HUD*^ Not sure what caused this to disrupt

Is there any command to toggle the skybox to something darker? Sometimes I want to adjust lighting in my designs and it's more difficult.

because the effect outside is achieved by turning up the ambient light. that still needs to reach wherever you are

Why doesn't this work on the inside of my ships? on the outside it works great but inside ships i get the usual darkness if there's no lights

I think I have just figured out why i had a black screen with the HUD elements in one of my worlds despite clearing shadercache files. In regards to @tada, you're both correct, due to SE fuckery. Let me explain what they were trying to tell you:

Basically, the Z axis in SE for positioning is flipped compared to the Z axis in the Skybox format. That means that in the skybox the current +Z direction is actually -Z in terms of position. (Ex. if I had two GPS, one at (10,10,10) and one at (10,10,15), the second GPS would actually move AWAY from the Skybox's +Z and TOWARDS it's negative one.

Hope that makes more sense! It would be great if you fixed it by flipping the symbols on the Z's), but no worries if not.
