Key strategic elements to consider when playing Pudge:

You can Hook runes without losing any mana. Try to Hook an enemy into your allies at the initial bounty rune. Worst case, you will still get the bounty rune with your Hook.
During the laning stage, don`t play only around the Hook. Also use your hero`s tankiness and high base damage to trade with enemy heroes and deny creeps.
Pudge has very high base damage and you can use it to get last hits and deny a lot of creeps.
Try to keep the creep equilibrium close to your tower, so you can Hook enemy heroes under the tower.
Meat Hook kills creeps instantly, except for ancients. Protect your tower by Hooking the catapult.
You can heal up signicantly by Dismembering a high HP creep.
Find a partner and use Smoke of Deceit to find pick offs.
Fight around vision so you can land your Hooks more easily.
