Intro
Perhaps many players with windows 8, was a pity that they could not nostalgy on the one of the most famous and iconic games 90 - Doom 2, when at startup nothing is happening ... especially if to consider the fact that the game was purchased. The instructions below will be given on how to fix it.
Solution
Run it in compatibility mode for Windows 95

Then you have to edit both the doom2.cfg and Doom2m.cfg files to change this:

fullscreen=false

Then look down a little further and change this:

waitonerror=false

Now find Dosbox.cfg and change waitonerror to false as well.

BOTH files have these settings and BOTH files must be changed AND be the same.

If those dont work do this too:

fulldouble=false

in both doom2.cfg and doom2m.cfg.

Now when the game starts, to use fullscreen just hit Alt+Enter.

Enjoy)

I'm fairly certain there are other guides on here, but this guide doesn't quite seem to solve all my problems here. When I run it windowed, I have a window that's 200x150 in size.

Correction on my part, it "ddraw" and "fulldouble" that causes DOSBox to not play Doom. It is possible to have "waitonerror" to true with DirectDraw rendering but double buffering with DirectDraw will not work on Windows 8/8.1.
