Description



ApertureVR is an addon that brings Portal 2 mechanics and assets to Half-Life: Alyx for both players and creators. Pushing the HL:A tools to their limits, you'll see old and new test elements and familiar looking aesthetics, but to solve the test chambers you'll have to be thinking without portals.

Featuring familiar assets, enhanced textures and new VR ready models, this release of ApertureVR represents the first playable demo, and gives you a sense of what we hope to achieve. We also want to give the community the ability the opportunity to create more Aperture-themed VR content with the ApertureVR Source Pack, featuring over 200 models (both new and ported), 40 unique prefabs and Hammer examples. You want Turrets? Hard-light bridges? Excursion Funnels? We have all of those and more... Just no Portals.

We're also looking for skilled Source 2 modders to help take this further. This release represents the work of four people from the Shooter: Revived modding team, created from scratch over a period of less than 30 days. With a bigger team, we hope we can integrate new puzzles, more unique VR-friendly mechanics and vastly improved assets. Maybe even Portals. (That was a joke.) Our goal was to bring Portal content and their gameplay mechanics to Half-Life: Alyx in a way that's as polished as possible, to both the user and the creator. That means:
  • We've remade and/or reworked most Portal 2 gameplay assets to look their best in VR.
  • We've recreated most of the test elements seen in Portal 2, with full functionality. These include: excursion funnels, lasers, turrets, hard light bridges, and even more.
  • We're releasing a source pack for map creators to build custom test chambers.





The ApertureVR Source Pack contains prefabs, models, scripts, maps and more that allows creators to design more custom test chambers in VR. A "zoo" map is also included, that showcases and explains all elements.

If you load a save made in Chamber 04, the laser that activates at the beginning of the map is permanently off. Also, could you disable Russel's dialogue when you die? I know it's possible because if you die in the last chapter of Half-Life: Alyx, Russel doesn't say anything since your contact with him is cut off.

The scale seems to be very off, the buttons don't activate under player without looking down first, but otherwise, pretty cool and high quality map pack. It feels very authentic to Portal 2.

Hi, nice work! Last chamber has a problem with the two laser beacons on the ground, they don't activate when I point laser to them :(
Any suggestions to make them work?
