Multigrid Projector Extra

Description
Multigrid Projector Extra

Extra functionality and convenience features for the vanilla projector block.

Features
  • Projector control panel button to load a self-repair projection for the projector's own mechanical group (ship)
  • Intuitive manual alignment of the projection with familiar character and block movement

Remarks
  • Upon loading the self-repair projection "Keep projection" is automatically enabled.
  • This is not a "mod version" of the Multigrid Projector!
  • Despite its name this mod also works with the vanilla game.
  • It is a regular mod which needs to be added to the world as usual.
  • Some features added in the future may require the MGP client plugin to work.

@DARTH TRUCKER

This mod can be added to your world normally as any other mod. But this is not the Multigrid Projector itself, it is just the extra UI functionality for the projectors.

For the multigrid projection/welding functionality you need the Multigrid Projector client plugin . That client plugin needs to be added to the entire game using the Plugin Loader (or loading with the -plugin launcher options). The client plugin does not work if added to the world as a mod.

Please read the description of this mod and the MGP client plugin. If it is still not clear, then please join the SE Mods Discord server (invite is in the description above) and we will try to help.

Good point on auto. I didnt think of keen adding multi to game. It is possible they add it.

1. I think this would be cool if added
2. Only ones I use other then manual aligning is to show build able or all of a BP

Questions:

1. Would it be useful to enable auto-alignment for player loaded blueprints as well with a checkbox or adding it as an extra button to the projector?

2. Would you prefer to have any extra UI elements above the (useless) offset/rotation sliders on the projector's UI, so one does not have to scroll down to the bottom all the time? (If this is doable with a mod, I'm not sure yet.)

I agree, but there are other considerations:

The automatic alignment code was already there in the MGP and it just had to be copied with minimal changes.

Also, adding this functionality to the mod without relying on the MGP plugin would allow Keen to integrate the repair blueprint loading functionality into the vanilla game if they choose to do so.

Therefore I decided to add this functionality to the mod regardless. It applies only if the mod loads the self-repair blueprint from the grid. It does not kick in if the player loads a (supposedly) auto-repair blueprint, because that would rely on auto-detection of this case which may go wrong. This is for maximum compatibility with the vanilla projector behavior.

I use MGP so would not need it. I believe every one uses MGP so it would be waste of your time.

If there is a need I can change this mod to auto-align the self-repair blueprint to the real grids without having to use the MGP client plugin. I'm not sure whether there is a need for that. Anybody using this mod without the MGP?
