Shield generators Addon

Home of Light 4.0 Update:

Hey everyone, ever since making this mod shields for capital ships have been introduced into the base game and after initial testing look quite OK to me, hence I will be discontinuing this mod for now.

Instead I will be updating Stronger Ship Hulls mod mod to be used with the in-game capital shields for best experience.

Please do let me know if in your opinion in-game capital shields require some rebalancing.

IMPORTANT: If you have been using unpacked mod files and/or Nexus mod version, please DELETE the mod folder content.

Important: Does not require Stronger Ship Hulls mod to work properly, but the usage of it is recommended - as the shield values have been calculated versus ships hulls used there.

This mod is savegame compatible and can be removed anytime.

Adds 10 new, working shield generators to the game. Industrial generators protect from roughly 1-2% - for L class / and 10% - for XL class / of total ship's hull before depleting. Military/Combat generators can absorb 10%-16% total ship's health.

Shields won't regenerate as long as ship is receiving damage, this is on purpose for both gameplay reasons. The regeneration will start after X seconds since last damage.
I tried balancing them for best experience, let me know if some are too weak/too strong.

Generators' Attributes:
  • capacity - # of hitpoints that shield can absorb before depleting
  • recharge rate - # of hitpoints it recharges per second
  • delay - # of seconds since last damage after which shield will start recharge process
  • total recharge time - # of minutes needed for full recharge - approximate value - any damage will temporarily stop the process

Shield Generator Types:

Class L: - mounted on L class ships

Small Industrial - capacity: 30 000 recharge rate: 120 delay: 12s recharge time: ~4min (abs: ~1% of ship's hull)
Medium Industrial - capacity: 50 000 recharge rate: 180 delay: 10s recharge time: ~5.5min (~1.5% of ship's hull)
Small Military - capacity: 200 000 recharge rate: 820 delay: 8s recharge time: ~4min (abs: ~10% of ship's hull)
Medium Military - capacity: 350 000 recharge rate: 860 delay: 6s recharge time: ~7min (abss: ~9% of ship's hull)
Large Military - capacity: 600 000 recharge rate: 880 delay: 4s recharge time: ~11min (abs: ~10% of ship's hull)

Class XL: - mounted on XL class ships

Capital Industrial - capacity: 600 000 recharge rate: 500 delay: 8s recharge time: ~20min (abs:~10% of ship's hull)
Capital Industrial Mk2 - capacity: 600 000 recharge rate: 1000 delay: 8s recharge time: ~10min (abs: ~10% of ships hull)
Capital Military - capacity: 1 200 000 recharge rate: 1200 delay: 5s recharge time: ~17min (abs:~15% of ship's hull)
Capital Terran Military - capacity: 1 000 000 recharge rate: 1500 delay: 5s recharge time: ~11min (abs:~15% of ship's hull)
Capital Fortified - capacity: 2 400 000 recharge rate: 1000 delay: 5s recharge time: ~50min (abs:~15% of ship's hull)
Capital Omicron Industrial - capacity: 800 000 recharge rate: 700 delay: 8s recharge time: ~19min
Capital Omicron Industrial Mk2 - capacity: 1 000 000 recharge rate: 1600 delay: 8s recharge time: ~10min
Capital Omicron Military - capacity: 1 800 000 recharge rate: 1800 delay: 5s recharge time: ~17min
Capital Omicron Fortified - capacity: 2 800 000 recharge rate: 1000 delay: 5s recharge time: ~38min

Shield Generator Types and Ships:

Small Industrial - mounted on Mining Ships (Boann, Midir, Sequana, Feldham)
Medium Industrial - mounted on L class Freighters (Rahanas(all types), Hermod, Lepton, Styrvok (all types))
Small Military - mounted on L Frigates (Balor)
Medium Military - mounted on L class Light Carriers, L class Light Destroyers (Light Sul, Stromvok)
Large Military - mounted on L class Heavy Carriers (Heavy Sul)

Capital Industrial - mounted on XL class Industrial Ships (Constructors, Scaldis, Super-Freighter 1-3)
Capital Industrial Mk2 - mounted on XL class Higher Tier Industrials (Titurel)
Capital Military - mounted on XL class Destroyers Tier 1 (Taranis)
Capital Terran Military - mounted on XL class Terran Destroyers Tier 1 (Sucullus)
Capital Fortified - mounted on XL class Destroyers T2 (Arawn)
Capital Omicron Industrial - mounted on XL class Omicron Industrial Ships (Lyranea)
Capital Omicron Industrial Mk2 - mounted on XL class Higher Tier Omicron Industrials (Lyramekron)
Capital Omicron Military - mounted on XL class Omicron Destroyers Tier 1 (Olmekron)

Hey Nidaren, you make some fine mods!
You also make a lot of mods...
Perhaps an all in one package would be in order for people that want the "Complete Nidaren Overhaul" :)

Hey. Just updated Ledda Construction Shop and will be playing the game for next few weeks. I plan to update Shields and Hulls as well, given there is still the need for it. Will try to find out during my playthrough.
